Hi guys, just wanted to pick you brain on one more/one less although just concentrating on one more at the moment. Really didnt realise how difficult it is to teach. I'm onto the second week of it, because my kids are very nearly there with it. But just wanted to know what extension activities you put out for them to explore afterwards. I am actually being observed on Thursday, and have the main teaching sorted but just need some deas for extension. I was thinking of using play dough and asking them to add one more cake / cherry or whatever it is they are making. Any ideas would be great xxxx

Photographs In Learning Journals
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi I use photos in my Learning Journals. I have used a variety of methods to get the parents more involved with them and so they are now looking through them regularly (yay!). The photos I have in them sometimes have other children in the class in the background (as is the case when you're snapping 'in the moment'). The parents are fine about this- but I would like some written evidence! If you use Learning Journals/Journeys do you send a letter home for parental permission for photos?

Hi I have had a horrible weekend as have been worrying about this since Friday. Last year I was an NQT in a reception class. They were quite a bright cohort, but during the year several had big changes, illness/parents splitting up/long periods off school. Most made good progress. This was the first year I had properly used the e profile (during my training had brielfy observed it being used) and I was aware that the types of assessment had changed to 80% child initiated 20% adult led. Bearing this in mind I carefully completed the e profile during the year. I found it hard to know if to give some children certain points, most had acheived them when working …

Are there any Northern Ireland Primary 1 or Primary 2 teachers got any long term or medium term plans that they would be willing to share, with other Northern Ireland teachers. All the plans I've ever come across on the Web are from the mainland teachers

Hi everyone! I've been thinking of changing my free flow system in the classroom but i was interested in other peoples ideas and the way they set up their classrooms? We have a class of 28 children, when i am doing an adult led activity, the other children have a free flow system. However, i am thinking of using name labels for the children to take with them and stick onto the different areas eg... take it to the outdoor area, the computers etc! I'd love to hear how others organise their free flow? Thank you

Purpose Of Observation

Hello, just wondering if anyone has any good quotes on the purpose of observation? I've got a quote by Janet Moyles but can't find any others. I was thinking along the lines of Andrew Pollard or some other well-known figure. Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend!
