After discussion with the year 1 teacher and other staff in school it was decided that when the children leave Reception we would bind their learning journeys and send them home with their reports. This was decided a while ago. When I went to check with my head before I started binding them she said I could only send them home if this is the 'norm' for Foundation Stage. So, my question is what do you do with your learning journeys when the children finish Reception?

I am trying to find out how I can prove amount of points progress during Reception is average , above average or below average from entry to Reception to the end of Reception on the profile. If a child arrives on 1,2 , 3 and leaves on 6 /7/8 is it average/above average progress. My county new transition record gives points 1,2,3 (low, secure etc like APP) when they transfer to school from pre-school. Are they the only points we are allowed to input? On stepping stones I thought the grey children came in on 4 etc. What would you consider as an average child/below average/above average score on entry? Has anyone any ideas?

Help, 'english' Lesson Observation.

Hi guys . On Monday my head is carrying out literacy observations with a focus on how we extend the more able (particulary in writing). I have a very child initiated reception class which works very well and at the moment our theme is pirates! I was thinking of bringing in a treasure chest and discussing what treasure is with the class. After generating the obvious ideas of jewels and gold, my treasure basket would contain photo's of my family and thigs that are precious to me. I could then help children generate a number of ideas of what might be special treasure to them/what they would take away to sea with them. I thougt then maybee the less able (Hate that word!)…

How would you define, in a very short sentence, the difference between these two points? What if the child seems to have special needs, but the parents do not want him to be assessed, making the situation a bit more complicated?

Hiya, What do you do about a child who was forming her letters in Autumn, but has now doesn't as she's always in a rush to go off and do something else? I'd ticked it off in Autumn B on the eyeprofile, but feel inclined to undo that as surely it's an assessment of where she is now? Or have I got that wrong? Thanks, Tracy

Hi I apologise for bringing this up again but I'm tired and confused! I went on a course this afternoon on outdoor play. We were given some possible planning sheets both of which had the AOL and 'learning intention' down the side then space for the suggested activities, evaluation and next steps. My query is: should we be writing specific learning intentions for the continuous provision each week? I have a separate sheet for my adult-led/initiated activities which have learning intentions on and long term planners up for all the provision areas indoors and outdoors. As I plan for the continous provision, of course, I have the 'intended learning' in mind but this is so…

Hello everyone, I am in a bit of a panic, being observed on Monday 22nd June and my focus is numeracy. The children are very interested in animals at the mo and we have just been on a farm trip - the animal they were most interested in was the farm cat, so i thought i might base the lesson on the book Six Dinner Sid. This is what I have come up with so far Problem solving - If Sid has six dinners a day, how many dinners does he have in a week? How many days in a week? 1 more / 1 less - he eats 4 dinners then has 1 more ... Collection of pet bowls and pet food with numbers stuck on Role play vets - giving sid his medicine I need lots more play based ac…

Hi, found these report statements while surfing the internet for PHSE statements. They may help in tricky times. Anyone with other examples would be appreciated as I am building up a bank of statements to stop too much repetition._Report_Writing_Bank_of_Statements_Opera_Diva_1_.doc I feel these last weeks are running away fast and there is still loads to do.

Hi everyone I have one child who remained with us this year and will be 5 this month. He starts Y1 in September. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to provide for him when he leaves? Last year I completed a transition form along with all his other contemporaries. This year we have done the usual observations and individual planning, together with a learning journey. I think I need to complete a Profile, but where will I find one, with instructions on what to do next? I have searched the forum already, but there is so much stuff on there, I wonder if there is a quick link. Thank you
