Has anyone tried both or either of these? I 've just looked at 2Build a Profile and can't see anywhere to actually write observations. Not sure if you can't or if it's only available once you've paid. Has anyone used any different apps? Someone told me the Sussex one is good but I haven't seen it.

:1bHappy Bank Holiday Everyone, It has been a while since I have been on the Forum. However, I am back and I am in need of help right now. I am starting in a new position in September as EYFS Leader in FS Unit - Part time Nursery and Reception. I have been given the challenge of moving it from good to outstanding. I have heaps of experience in Reception but very little, almost non-existent, in Nursery. So as you can imagine I have things whizzing around in my mind. We have already made a start on reorganising the environment to help with children's independence and access to resources. My biggest concern is the planning. What should Nursery planning look …

Hi all, I am about to start teaching a mixed class of reception. yr1 and yr2 after being a yr3/4 teacher for many years. Just wondering if anyone is able to share their experiences/tips of managing mixed classes and any examples of planning formats. We are long overdue an inspection so are expecting it in the first half term so just want some reassurance I am on the right tracks. Many thanks!

Hi I have recently been appointed a playgroup leader provision and have been working as a preschool room leader in day care and would appreciate any ideas on planning and templates for weekly and medium term planning. Within the playgroup we have PEG places and this is new to me so would like ideas for planning around these. I have also being using themes do playgroups still use themes as I have heard some do and other don't. I would also like reassurance on how often observations are completed within playgroups as within my day-care setting we do one a week is that still ok or does it need to be one in each area for each week? any advise, templates would be grate…

Hi all, I was just wondering how you all (mainly in schools) present your learning journals for each of the children? We've done learning journals where everything is filed in order to see progression but we've also had them split into eight sections, one for each area of learning and one for parents/carers contributions. Any ideas which the preferred way is at the moment? I can see the benefits of both but wondered what you all do?? Thanks in advance for any replies and hope you're all enjoying the summer!

One of our parents told us today that the school her daughter will start at in September has given out a list of words they want the children to learn before they start. Mom feels this is too much too soon and as she isnt a teacher herself doesnt want to teach it wrongly. Is this a common thing for schools to do? I havent heard of it anywhere else.

Hi all, I was wondering whether I could ask you all for your creative opinions and ideas? I am setting up my nursery classroom for September in my new school (been in early years for 9 years and teaching for 12 and just moved to a leadership role in a new school so lots of change!) and I was wondering if anyone had any exciting names for the areas in their classroom? My son's reception class had a 'creation station' for their creative/art area and I was wondering if anyone had any other exciting and more original ideas for names rather than the 'construction area' or 'writing corner' etc. Not to worry if you don't I just thought I'd ask! Thanks

Can anyone suggest a maths scheme for Nursery and Reception that they think is good? I know that most people don't like schemes, but I feel we need something to give us a bit of meat in the sandwich, as it were.
