Phonic Activities U, V, W, X, Y, Z

Hi all! I'm a 3rd year BA student and am looking for some interesting phonic activities for u-z as these are the letters they are less confident with! As we are focusing on space, thought about inventing some 'alien words' or alien linked words such as 'zap' to encourage recognition. Then they could sort out which words are space words. Perhaps the 2 of the children could become 'aliens' to make it all a little more exciting. any other exciting ideas/stimulating ideas would be warmly welcomed x

I have a mixed rec/yr1 class and always struggle to fit in ICT for YR1. We use 'Education City' and other various programmes throughout the week to support various subjects. No printer and only 3 computers is a problem. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Hi, everyone, You know when you have just been thinking about something tooooooo much!?! Well I think this is what i have done and now i am stuck! In a few weeks I am being observed and i have most of my ideas already apart from one main bit.... I am doing Jack and the Beanstalk with an input which will lead to a CLL activity and a KUW activity alongside lots of enhanced provison. So... i have decided that the Giant will capture a Jack from our room (as he does) and it will be the children's KUW activity to resucue him BUT ( this is where i could do with your great ideas) what could the Giant do to Jack which will HOPEFULLY lead to the children being able to construc…

Hi The other day I had an interesting conversation with my Headteacher, who as I had been off sick had taken my class for several days. She was telling me that after a whole class input upon the carpet she had used a carousel approach where she had two adults doing adult led activities while the other groups were sent to an area and given a specific acitivity to do such as make a type of transport with the sticklebricks. I got the impression that this is what she felt I should be doing, but this is not what I do at the moment. At present I do a whole class input maybe phonics or PSRN and then either my TA or myself work with one group doing an adult led activity …

Hello There has been a few threads on here about LTP and coverage. How do we know that we are covering everything when we are following the children's interests? After speaking to my team, we have decided to devise a LTP based on the skills that we are going to cover each term. Therefore we will know that everything has been covered, but how we cover it will be left down to each teacher and each cohort of children. Please have a look at my CD plan so far and see what you think. I have only finished the 'exploring media and materials' section. Still have Music section to do. Thanks, I look forward to your feedback. Creative_development_Long_Term_Planning.doc
