Writing Names In Dashed Letters
by Guest- 4 replies

Not sure if I've remembered this correctly, but I'm sure there was an attachment a maybe last year with letters that were written in 'dash' i.e. that children could draw over to practice writing their name. I've done a few searches, but have not found what I was looking for. Anyone any ideas? Many thanks Goldilocks

Plannning In Day Nursery
by Guest- 1 reply

Hi how do you plan in your nursery?, we have the key worker system up and running now and each key worker plans for their individual children (each child therefore has a planning sheet), this is great because the planning really does relate to the child. needless to say though this can sometimes take some time. is planning this way too much?, i am really unsure of what it is feasable to expect the staff to do. in the rooms with smaller ratio's (1:3, and 1:4) staff are finding the planning managable and useful, however in pre-school on the 1-8 ratio it takes a bit longer as one member of staff will have eight planning sheets to do. now these sheets are only short …

hi, i was just wondering if anybody had any forms that they use for either of these child trackers, i am trying to develop them and just thought i would ask before trying to construct my own. I am thinking they obviously need the date, times, names etc but is there a way anybody finds 'easy' of setting out/doing these. Thanks

Stranger Danger

Hi I was wondering if anyone could suggest a suitable story for Reception aged children about stranger danger ( or not stranger as it more often seems to be in this day and age!). It is something that has come up with one of my parents and as we all know it's a fine line between creating an awareness and knocking confidence and creating worry. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. PS Funny isn't it how the snow closes school and what's the first thing I think of doing!!!!

Eyfs Planning Board
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi, was wondering if you could help me, well offer your advice. I came up with the brainwave( well i think it's a barinwave) of taking down a display from a high display board and using it as a central point for all our planning, rotas and most of all a large white board for spontainious observations and assessment for learning alongside our midterm planning which if this all goes to plan we will do as we go along followng the children's interests and choices. We are a large team of 8 members of staff plus numerous students so by having this point for everyone to have the oppotunity to add to the plans i thought i would firstly help inform everyone of what and where the…

Psrn Planning

Can anyone recommend a good book to inspire me for PSRN or a scheme suitable for delivering PSRN in a reception class setting? I bought a book recently but it follows a daily numeracy hour format and is too much to expect of my class and doesn't fit with the EYFS approach too well. Helen

I am new this year to the EYFS and am so confused I'm not enjoying the teaching at all! What am I confused about? Try what am I NOT confused about!! The planning - so many different formats and which is right? No one seems sure in my setting. Do I need to do separate literacy and Numeracy plans as well as the 6 areas? My setting says yes - not enough detail on CLL and PSRN areas of learning (they say) Assessment, when. how often. who by etc. How to put Afl on plans for reception -what about plenaries -do you do these or is it not feasible? Observations -how often? Who by? How to do them without interruption by the children? How recorded? Do you have a separate book f…

Planned Observations

Hi, I'm fairly new to the forumm and so far have really enjoyed reading all of the posts here, they've made me realise that other people have the same concerns and struggles as me! One area I'm not very confident in, however, is observing the children. I do lots of 'catch them as you can' observations but can't really get my head around planned obs. Do you plan the activity, area, or which children to watch? If you choose a particular child/ small group, is it in a planned area/ activity or just watching what they happen to choose at that time? Also, if you do plan the activity/ area, how do you choose what to focus on for the observation?! The Nursery teacher advised…
