I am about to go into my final teaching placement of my BA(Hons) with QTS. The topic is 'castles' for KS1, does anyone have any ideas or experience with this topic or know of any good websites, books etc??? Thanks, its my first KS1 experience so wish me luck!!!!

Hi all I've just spent the last 2 hours searching the site for outdoor play plans!! I'm sure i have seen some on here! Could anyone point me in the right direction, I'm looking for a blank pro forma. Incidentally, i sent out a parent questionnaire this week asking parents to tell us about the children and their interests. The responses were surprisingly helpful, i wrote on them in red what we were already doing to meet these interests and how we can further meet them either collectively or individually! Any help gratefully accepted

Have I Got This All Wrong?

I run a Foundation unit for 3 to 5 year olds. This week I have had a couple of 'discussions' with our year one teacher! She is unhappy that the children who have just gone into her class from my Foundation class. Seems they can't spell, don't use a dictionary and can't sit still for more than ten minutes at a time. Apparently they can't write their numbers correctly either and basically are not up to the standard SHE wants them to be. No, that's not exactly true. She wishes they were all like a couple of them. She said she wished she'd had the top 4 (there are 8 of them) for the last half term of the summer term so she could push them on. I pointed out that that…

I am trying to find a short term planning format for Reception. I have seen the one from Durham and like it but would really like to see one completed so I can get my head round it. I have done my continuous provision planning thanks to all the useful things put on this site. Would anyone be willing to share their weekly plan with me please? I seem to be going round in circles.

hello there, just wonderin if anyone can help? I unfortunately missed the eyfs training in school as i was moved from R to Y3 and now have returned to nursery and ive noticed these incredible learning journeys in my daughters private day nursery and my friend/teacher at another school says they use them in foundation.....il get to my point ha ha - are these 'incredible learning journeys' meant to be called this? or can they be called anything? are we meant to be doing these now or can any form of ongoing obs/assessments/childrens work be kept any way we like? feel like ive missed out on the training and that im missing some vital info! thanks

Hi all, I'm new to this site but I'm hoping you can help. I'm returning to reception in January after a year on maternity leave and I'm feeling snowed under with eyfs. I have to create all long and medium term plans etc in line with eyfs as my supply hasn't done this, who can blame her. Hi Need to know if any recption teacher plans seperately for ICT. The head(who has no early years experience or KS1) dropped in to observe a colleagues ICT lesson. he could not make any sense of the objectives in KUW. He wanted to know why the ICT medium term plans were not being used. My colleague tried to explain that the objectives were fron the EYFS, however, he has decided that is not good enough and he wants to see the ICT plans used. As it is seperate numeracy and literacy plans are used, next he will be wanting to see seperate science, history, geography, RE, art, Dt.......................! Surely this is not how the Foundation should be, I am beginning to loose…
