Hi everyone, Has anyone got any words of wisdom on what OFSTED will be looking for now. To be honest I am not really sure what they were looking for before, but I have never experienced an Ofsted before as I was only an NQT last year!! My head just say don't worry about anything and just concentrate on your teaching, but that really isn't any help. I think the problem is I am feeling the pressure as my school is due an Ofsted and have received an Outstanding in their last 3. No matter how many times i read the EYFS it doesn't seem to be getting any clearer!! HELP !!

Hi, Is anyone out there willing to share their observation proforma for a Reception class, which ticks all the boxes in the EYFS? Last year I used the famous post-it method, but when I was moderated I was told i need actual observation sheets as well. How are we expected to link this to the principles/ commitments? Getting a tad confused!!

Can someone point me in the direction of where to find planning formats which different counties have created in line with the new EYFS?? I am already aware of Essex and Durham, but I am sure I read somewhere on here of others and of course cannot seem to find them again. Thanks in advance.

Hi, first week in Reception and loved it! Wondering if anyone has a tried and tested resource for guided reading. We want to invest in a set rather than mix and match as we haven't the time, resources or to be honest the know how to gather existing material in the class. We are also planning to continue with one to one reading with parents doing this! Thanks in advance

OXFORDSHIRE: We are going to have an OFSTED visit next week and my head has asked if I could put together some data from FSU profile results. He has show me a letter from DEC 2005 from JF and a sheet giving guidance - so far so good. For attainment, the sheet suggests I log % of girls/boys acheiving 104 and 78, plus autumn, spring and summer % - this I can do! Then Im confused with the part for progress. It says - Overall progress - % making more than expected progress (expected by whom - me? a national expectation?) Then percentage of F1 children making 2 or more steps of progress (stepping stones steps?). I am feeling abit frazzed at the moment so maybe it's something I…

Hi everyone This is my first ever post even though I have read the forums for awhile. I am a NQT and have just started teaching a reception class. At the start of the day I have decided to have various toys/activites for the children to play with to help them settle in such as lego or small world ect. These will be available during the rest of the day, and will be planned using observations of the children's interests and needs. However I was just wondering if I should change these everyday or have them for the whole week. I know that it is important for the children to be able to return to their previous activities to develop their learning, but was worried t…

Hello again, sorry i am so confused with planning this year - last year i had a pure yr class and loved the planning, but i am finding it very hard to gel the new primary strategy frameworks with the new EYFS. Is anyone having the same difficulties or thought of any solutions? Advice is desparately needed, as my stress levels are rising rapidly! Thank you

Really silly, basic question, but do you call your malleable area 'malleable ara' with the children and do they refer to it by this name? And do you explain to children what malleable means? I only ask because I've finally managed to fit a separate malleable area into my classroom, rather than it just being a feature of the messy table, and I just feel malleable is a bit of a tricky word - maybe it's just me!

Hi everyone, After spending HOURS scouring forums and reading the new EYFS documents I have finally come up with some weekly planning formats. Could you lovely people have a look and let me know what you think? I have included: a learning environment plan (one for indoor and another for outdoor) a daily plan showing whole class sessions and a brief description of focus activity a focus activity sheet in addition to this I also do a weekly phonics plan. Is this too much? Have I left anything out? I would really appreciate your feedback. blank_outdoor_plan.doc blank_indoor_plan.doc blank_daily_plan.doc blank_focus_activity_plan.doc
