Our school is due a lovely little visit very soon and I understand that now when schools are Ofstedded (!) the foundation stage has a separate Ofsted, or a separate report or something different from before. Can anyone enlighten me on the changes and what the new inspection will be like, please? thank you!

On Entry Assessment In Nursery
by Guest bobby- 4 replies

I know it's late and you are all tired but please does anyone have any ideas for an on-entry assessment for a school nursery class. I usually do the settling, chatting, playing and observing but our new head wants something she can use to show value-added at the end of reception. I'm stumped, as it goes against my beliefs but then i'm not in charge Thanks

Hello everybody, I am in a panic at the thought of going back next week! I will have a mixed R and Y1 class and I am unsure how to do my long term planning and how it links with continuous provision! I have a long term plan for YR. Do other people just add in Y1 criteria?! Any ideas or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi, I would like some advice about planning and would really appreciate it if you could share with me how you do your planning. Next year I'll be teaching Reception in a one form entry school and so it can be hard not having someone else to work with! I would just like to ask HOW people lay out their planning (if there's any way you could somehow let me see a copy of your format and even an example of what you include, this would be sooooo helpful.) Also, do you do medium plans at the beg of the term (or year?!?) Weekly plans (and in how much detail, including what detail, using what format??!?) ~ Do you say just what needs to be covered or exac…

All The Elg's On One Sheet?
by Guest heleng- 5 replies

Does anyone have a sheet with all the new ELG's and possibly the 40-60 mnths development matters all on one sheet? I have one for the profile but need one with all the ELG's. Following on from the topic about skill based mtp's I think this will be how we will plan this term but it would be a lot easier if there was a sheet with all the ELG's on, all numbered. I am having trouble doing it myself, as I am not the most computer literate of people

Outdoor Play Planning ...help!
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi guys havent posted for a while but am hoping you can give me some advice! I am a teacher and (co ordinator) in a reception class in an independent school. The children have acess to a good sized garden. My problem is that I can't get my head round giving the children 50 per cent outdoor play when they are going off to various lessons throughout the day (french, music PE etc). I don't think we are able to offer the option of a free flow type situation as we are a little more formal than most reception classes. Any ideas gratefully received!!!!
