Do You Plan Using A Day Book?
by Guest- 1 reply

I have been planning for the last few years using a day book, rather than on sheets. Does anyone else do this and are you going to continue in this way in September. A day book works really well for me and I plan the next day the night before. I'm not sure how i'm going to do this in light of EYFS, whether I now need to write down the context of the learning, development matters, look, listen, note etc. Any help, or ideas gratefully received Sunbeam

Hi all, have put together eyfs scale points into a class tracking sheet, I know its the dreaded tick sheet but personally like to see at a glance where we're at! Have used lots of things from other people so thought i'd have a go at posting something to share - have never done this before so hope it works!! EYFS_profile_tracking_sheet.doc

don't know if I have gone over the top, but have cut and pasted and devised a sheet this afternoon from the booklet so i can check that the setting are achieving the requirements and guidance from the frame work booklet. Will fill in the relevant section now. Suppose im just worried in case anything gets left out. Thought i would place it into the operational plan. Would you have a look and let me know what you think please Many Thanks EYFS__legal_requirements_and_stat_guidance_sheets.doc O40

Planning For Keyworkers
by Guest- 8 replies

I am wondering quite what to do about keyworkers? I know the new EYFS says they all need one but in my reception class I work with diffrent TAs in the morning and afternoon so if i divided them up between us sometimes the child's keyworker wouln't be there so I'm wondering about basically it being me who is the keyworker for all 30!! not exactly what the eyfs had in mind. What are others doing??? Last year we shared out some of the quieter ones between us to make sure they had more attention , always spoke with an adult each day.

Hi there, Happy Holidays to all- why are we constantly thinking about work? I can't switch off and still occupied with peg labels, first day certificates etc... However, I wondered if anyone has any brilliant ideas for a topic on bears- planning or resources gratefully received... and if I can help with anyone elses topic- i would be only too pleased to upload my planning- no point in reinventing the wheel. This is a foundation stage class, teddy bears- although i thought i would start with the good old bear hunt and a teddy bears picnic. Thank you in anticipation

Hi all For your letters and sounds assessment how do you fill in the sheet where you show which phase children are on. Do you simple put the date next to the phase when it has been achieved or do you to assessment every few weeks and mark where each child is at this point? hope that makes sense................not sure it does!!

Eyfs Planning Again!

Hi everyone, hope your all enjoying the break, panic is now setting in for me as the dreaded day in september is drawing nearer! Anyway, this year I taught mixed YR/Y1 so my planning had a huge Y1 focus taken from QCA (heads idea), so all our planning proformas are to encompass NC and skills etc. This year I'm teaching a straight YR class and my head said I need to make my own proforma for it, I'm an NQT up until January and very confused because I have been so brain washed with QCA that i'm finding it difficult to think for myself! I have designed a few taking into account the EYFS and development matters. but if anyone could upload me an example of what they w…

Confused - Reception Planning
by Guest- 13 replies
- 1.5k views
Hi, I am starting teaching straight Reception next year, after a year in mixed R/Y1. Last year it was very prescriptive. I taught a very Year 1 style curriculum, but with EYFS objectives. This was the way the school ran things, with the Reception class planning in a similar way to me. Having read posts on here I am a little confused as how to do my planning for next year (I am moving schools and becoming the Reception class teacher, it's a small school, so no other EYs teachers to bounce ideas off of) - last year I had every lesson planned at the beginning of the half term. I want to give the children topics - mainly to help with my organisation, but also as a lead in…

Confused About Stepping Stones
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi, I know there is probably info on this somewhere but I am a little confused about what stepping stones are - and how the colours relate (I'm new to EYFS) I have had sheets from the preschools of my reception children, with that stepping stone they are on. Where would I find guidance on this? Also how does this relate to the new EYFS - just been using it to plan, and now wondering where the stepping stones fit in. Sorry for the question - my brain has just died! Em
