Outdoor Planning Issue

Hi, we are the lucky owners of a new outdoor play area. The problem is planning, the staff really need to focus on quality experiences for the children and plan for these alongside free play. Do you think that planning on a seperate sheet, so that they really focus on this area would be a good idea? We are a centre where outdoors has not been a priority before so I really want staff to think carefully about the provision and experiences which they offer children. All advice would be really welcomed.

Outdoor Learning Policy

Help! Does anyone have an example of an outdoor learning policy that they would be willing to share? Also does anyone know where I can find written evidence of why outdoor learning across the curriculum is so important? I am writing an action plan for outdoor learning and know how important it is but feel I need some backup evidence. Thanks R

Hi there, I wonder if i could get some advice. I teach a mixed aged YR/ Y1 class and we are following the year one literacy planning as our objective. this week we will be covering poetry on a theme. We will be celebrating Diwali and bonfire night this week so thought it would be nice to learn and perform some group poems. Can i ask though at this stage in reception should the children just be listening to, performing and learning different rhymes??? The learning objective for year one is that they use a poetry frame as a basis for writing alternative versions. Does anyone have a simple model i could use or any ideas?? for some reason my brain has got stuck! Ive looked at…

Numicon is a multi-sensory teaching approach to maths for children aged 3-7 and older pupils with special needs- it is fun to use and easy to teach. Numicon uses patterns to represent each numeral; the patterns are structured to encourage the understanding of number and number relationships, essential for successful arithmetic. The Numicon small-step teaching programme is research based and written by practising teachers. It is easy to follow, pupils are highly motivated by Numicon and quickly develop positive attitudes to maths. Go here to find out more: http://www.numicon.com/ I use it all the time- it is amazing- the shapes are weighted so you can bal…

Hello please can anyone share any good activity ideas based on a dark, dark tale by Ruth Brown? I thought about having a box in class and asking children to put their thoughts on what could be in the box inside it. I feel that there should be some lovely activities but I'm having a total brain melt down! Help please

Hi, I asked a friend of mine to send me some of his assessment stuff and he sent me a tracking sheet to use instead of the profile which I think is great and I have got up and running. He also sent me a tracking sheet to tick off which stepping stone/early learning goal the children are at. Do I need to use both and keep evidence for both? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Reception Class Information

Hi, I have never taught reception but have a job interview and would be grateful for any tips. I have to bring in a portfolio which demonstrates good practice in one or more of 6 areas of learning. I have taught year 1 and was hoping to differentiate some of this work. I was thinking of '3 little pigs' speaking and listening activity and retelling. Has anyone got a plan with this on or anything you think would be suitable and the accompanying lesson/weekly plan to go with it. Also, I have to teach 8 children a numeracy lesson and would welcome ideas and lesson plans. I was thinking of teaching shape, but do not have access to classroom resources an…
