Hi there Lovely to hear people sharing ideas and suggestions after a lovely 3 weeks of not thinking of school at all!!!! Now my head is spinning and I feel my old stressful self returning!!!! Hope all enjoying the break!! I plan to go into school on Monday and there the fun begins...such a list..so many things to do and so little time!!! Star Rewards- How Do You Feel?
by Guest- 10 replies

I would love to share your views on how appropriate star sharts are for the under threes, I feel that putting a star alongside the childs name is not appropriate and not effective for good behaviour. Instant praise would be the obbviors answer to me with a lovely smile and verbal praise. Does anyone have other coments or other more age appropriate ways for rewarding children? Thanks for your time Sunshine

hi everyone, please help, i have just started in reception (NQT) and i am very confused. My school still uses p.levels for reception but from everything i have heard and seen we are not to use them. how can i change my co-ordinators and heads minds they really don't seem to want to change because 'it gives year one a baseline'. plus they love looking at grids. im not sure how to approach or tell them what to do instead apart from assess from f.s.profile thanx

Types Of Observations?
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi I work in a FSU and was wondering what types of observations/formats you use. We were moderated last year and were told we didn't have enough variety. I am unsure of what types I should be using. We currently use photographs, videos, post it notes, focused obs on individual children, focused group and whole class observational sheets. What else could we be using my minds too busy with preparing fsu to think!! I would appreciate if people would share any observational forms they use and when I have gathered a variety I will put them in the resourses section. I think the types we lacked were things like narrative observations, time samples, tracking??? If anyone kno…

Outdoor Planning

Hi, just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shared their knowledge, expertise and experience on this forum, I really dont know how I would do this job without such levels of support. Cheers guys,..... Here is another question to pick your brains. With an ofsted fairly imminent, I really wanted to get my outdoor planning tweaked. After several courses I am hoping that the general message regarding outdoor play is that it is more about using the natural environment to deliver the EYFS than it is about setting up an outdoor classroom reflective of that inside. This is fantastic news as it means I can really work with my colleague who is forest schools trained a…
