Hello Everyone! I am currently banging my head against a brick wall as I am trying to devise a planning sheet which has a similar format to the EYFS in that it has the stages of development on the sheet so that we can highlight them as we cover them. Does that make sense? Why didnt they just produce a template with the new document and save all the unsuccessful cut and paste nightmares! Its probably a rubbish idea anyway but its taking so long to do! Don't suppose anyone has done it already have they?

Can you explain something to me in very simple terms please. We have a new teacher going in to Y1 next year. I've been looking at her first week's planning and I think some of the things she's planning to do are quite hard, particularly introducing place value as understanding what each digit in a 'teen number represents. Perhaps this is because I'm thinking of where my children currently are: most of them have scored 6/7 on the Numbers as labels...aspect of the FSP. Hi everyone. Can any of you guys share an example of a medium term planning sheet with me-blank if possible- or direct me to examples given previously on the forum? I am new to planning for reception. The present teacher uses the Norfolk plans but I have been asked by the Head not to as she has only ever used this for the last 5 years and we are starting afresh. I just have a mental block about where to start-too used to NLS and NNS and QCA!! Many thanks in advance. Moisy xx

Simple Template For Planning
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi does any one have a simple template that the children could fill out to record what they are planning. Does that make sense? I have 30 rec children and need something easy for the children to record where they are working during a session. I have tried pictures of areas but this generates a lot of paper...... but perhaps there is a better alternative out there that someone would be willing to share. Thanks rualprice

Why?

Hi there, after a staff meeting about assessment where I shared my Foundation stage end of profile results in all SIX areas of learning, I listened attentively whilst KS1 and KS2 staff shared their results for literacy ( reading, writing) and numeracy. So I sat thinking, can anyone tell me ( I am just being devils advocate to see what everyone else thinks) why do I as a foundation stage practioner assess 6 areas of learning if only CLL and MD scores are really used to predict end of KS1 results. Why am I assessing childrens understanding of creative dev, knowledge and understanding, physical dev etc or more so what are they being used for afterwards? what happens to the …
