Hi there, I was wondering if anyone had any examples they would be willing to share on planning and organisation in the early part of Year one. How do people organise their day to incorporate the 3 levels of practice that start in the foundation stage (adult initiated, adult focused and child initiated) and what does your planning look like? Many thanks in advance Jo

Renewed Literacy/numeracy Frameworks

has anyone designed planning sheets for literacy and numeracy thaat relate to the new frameworks. We had Inset on Friday, but there was very little guidance for Reception - we just sat through the examples for other year groups and ended the day very frustrated. I know there will be more training in Sept. but the idea is for us to start back in Sept using the framework so we can work through problems etc. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

New Ta's

I haven't stopped smiling since Thursday as my present TA is being moved out of my class in September and I am getting a new one who is absolutely lovely. She is calm and reflective and just what a foundation class needs. The only down side is that she knows nothing at all about Foundation Stage - I don't think this will be a problem as like I said she is just lovely. I have been thinking for a while of making a list of Foundation stuff (sort of about the ethos eg encourage children to dress/undress independently and solve problems independently etc) as I often have work experience and non FS students who I repeat all these things to. The trouble is when it is your job yo…

Can anyone help? I work in a maintained foundation stage where the nursery and school are on split sites. Anyhow, I manage the foundation stage and am responsible for tracking the childen's progress from start to finish. The problem I have is that we have a staggered intake in the nursery and we admit several children each month. Has anybody have any idea of a tracking proforma, whereby I can track all of the children's progress from start to end without having thousands of sheets of paper with this staggered intake. we are currently using the erecord in nursery and reception but as our numbers on roll are constantly changing, I am finding it difficult to track. What with…

Hi all, Begging for help again! We are a Reception/Foundation Stage class in a primary school. In September, there will be 2 teachers (1 very experienced in FS and me (1 year in FS)!) a TA with no FS experience, and a GTP student. Previously we had us two teachers and 2 fantastic, fabulous FS expert TA's. We are trying to figure out an appropriate format for planning to enable us to support the new staff (and ourselves) well. Has anyone got any ideas or formats they use? It will support us too as our cohort this year was 44 and we have 60 next year aaaargh! I'm also compiling a bank of Numeracy and Literacy resources to help out our new staff, but would…
