Aparantly our tongue picks up bitter, sweet, sour and salty so if anyone can give me some ideas along these lines. They also need to fall into our healthy eating policy. Obviously no nuts. No celery and need to be veggie. HELP

Cut The Paperwork!

For the past four months I've been working on a program to assess, track and show progression in the new phases of phonics and sound aquisition (initial sounds, clusters, long vowels etc), it compares boys against girls, classes against each other... offers groupings of children for various focuses, highlights to gaps for you to focus your children etc etc. As I show people at school, they keep saying "wow! that's brill, but can you just make it do this and that!" which is good, as it means I'm tailoring to exactly what's needed in schools! Oh, and it tracks from entry to Reception through to Year 3 too... as most trackers don't seem too and I think the Y2/Y3 changeo…

P Levels

Hi, Was wondering if there is any advice out there on this one. We are a Reception class in a primary school, and have been asked(told) in Writing and Reading to provide P level progress for our children. It is a whole school initiative so we are having to try. Where do we stand on this as my gut feeling is is inappropriate for our children, as it make them all appear on the SEN criteria!! We are obviously completing ELG's too, so paperwork is vile and being triplicated. Any opinions/thoughts/advice would be welcome. Ta Annie1979 x

Hello, and thank you for such a wonderful forum. I am currently teaching Reception at a small school in Thailand, next year we will be extending our age limit to include Key Stage 1. Over the April break I will be ordering many new resources from England. Which resources would you say are essential, or very helpful for teaching the Key Stage 1? We do have Jolly Phonics and a small collection of guided readers. Many Thanks, Rob

How Things Work

We have done a topic on how things work. This is great for getting in your ICT. We had remote control cars, remote control dinosaurs, telephones, toy microwaves, toy kettle etc. We also purchased a load of disposable cameras. The children were allowed to take photos of what they wanted in the setting. We then had them developed and made them into a book for the book corner.
