We until now have always done individual readers. I have 30 children in my class. So it has been achievable during the week. We are now being asked to do guided reading toao and being reluctant to give up individual readers we're going to try doing both. I've worked out how this will fit into a fortnightly cycle - whereby we'll guided read with everyone over the course of two weeks - and the week in which they do their guided reading, they won't be read with individually, just have their books changed. Hello, I am feeling so fed up at the moment and really need the holiday to catch up on some sleep. I am supposed to be following the topic heading of either Journeys or Transport after Christmas . Has anyone got any planning they can share for a mixed Reception/ Year 1 class please. I have never done this topic before and could really do with some help. Please help...Year 1 teachers need an assessment in Reading and Numeracy that will give a Level eg W, W+, 1c etc....anyone have any ideas or advice. Does anyone Target set Year 1 children? Thanks

Ever increasingly we're being asked to track everything. We've been asked now to show how we're going to track phonic progression through the school... namely, how the children progress through the new 'phases'. I have in my head I think I want it to work... but I can remember from a course a few weeks ago a lady from Lancashire LEA said that they had been prided with some tracking grids that she found to be pretty usful and intuative. Has anyone got these... or anything similar before I spend time devising my own from scratch. Hi we are currently being ofsted and was briefly watched during oral and mental starter today. They said teaching was fine, children engaged but they didn't think it was challenging enough. Prob is definately getting observed for numeracy 2moro and now feel I have to change/adapt planning already done to make it more challenging. We are doing Counting, comparing and ordering numbers. Any ideas for oral and mental starter and whole class teaching would be gratefully appreciated thanks! x

Hi there everyone, Just wondering if there are any kind and wonderful folk out there with old/recent topic planning to share? I am still new at this teaching a mixed rec/year 1 class business and was wondering what anyone else in the same position year group wise is doing next week? I am roughly planning to go all out creative completely with them all and have ordered a few more quick christmassy arty resources to help with that as the school is bare. Hi everyone and merry xmas!! just spent last hour and a half making a set of HFW Bingo games. Literacy Strands And Planning

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice as I'm a little confused about our current literacy planning. At the moment in our medium term plan we link our activities to the literacy strategy; to sentence, text and word objectives. Our literacy co-ordinator has just given us the new literacy strands (12 in total) and they look quite straightforward, my question really is how does anyone refer back to them within their planning. Our co-ordinator is lovely but she says she isn't sure how we indicate them in our planning and the head has told her we don't need to work from them yet?? Can anyone help?? P.s if anyone wants to see our current planing I'll gladly attatch it. …
