How Often Do You Observe?
by Guest- 6 replies

Just wondering how often you all do formal written observations during the week? I work in a nursery with 2 - 4 age group mixed. At the moment staff observe informally and we don't record anything. But I think it is important that we start using some format sheet to record what we see happening. I'm thinking, at least one day, is this too many/too little? Thanks for info! Kelly

hi, im an NQT started this sept in a special needs schools for PMLD pupils and am getting seriously stressed with it all!! i have 3 reception aged pupils and 7 year 1's (of which 4 have come from nursery where they didnt really have a 'reception year' as such). I am planning from the FS guidance and have checked and this is appropriate given the ability of the children. I ensure that the ELG's are linked to the National Curriculum and extend learning objectives into KS1 if it is appropriate. However I am having a serious stress about assessment. Last year with the 3 year 1's that I had in the same class (as a trainee) I used the e-profile and so therefore cannot u…

House!

Does anyone know where I can get a page border of a house so that children can draw/write within it? I don't like the one on Word and a clipart search on Microsoft clipart hasn't given me anything. NO PRESSURE BUT I NEED IT TONIGHT! Ooh - that's very big isn't it? It does kind of show my level of desperation though!

Profile Into Nat Curr - Help!
by Guest- 10 replies
- 1.1k views
My head has asked for 'current' and 'predicted end of year' Nat Curriculum grades for my Year One class this coming week and I'm finding it very hard to do this as they have only been with me for a few weeks (added to this I only work 3 days a week!) Can anyone help with advice on converting the FSprofile grades into rough Nat Curr equivalents? They obviously haven't moved on massivly since the profiles were completed and my thoughts were it would at least give me a starting place. Thank you in advance!

by Guest- 11 replies

Hi, I am currently having a taste and smell week and want to do a lesson where I have different smells for the children to guess what they are. Has anyone done anything similiar and what sort of smells did they use. Something easily recognisable and easy to hand as I'm doing this tomorrow afternoon. Any ideas much appreciated. Jo

I am going to make Jam Tarts and allow the children to make the pastry and then choose what jam they would like in their jam tarts. The children love their cookery session every week and gain a lot of different skills during it. But I'm being observed on Friday and not sure what to put as my main lesson objective as required on the schools lesson plan. I tend to take these sessions treating it as a learning experience knowing the children will gain lots from it and probably in different areas. I then retrospectivly look at what they have gained from that particular session. So just querying what other people would put as their main objective in a situation like this. …
