This is my first post on here but I am desperately seeking some guidance. I have just taken on my first teaching post and am in a reception/year 1 class. I have all the activities planned in my head but am struggling with where to go form there. I have each of the 6 areas on separate sheets with listed activities for each week. Any adult -led compulsory activities are highlighted in one colour and whole class things in another. I also have separate literacy nad numeracy plans for the week. hello, cold, wet and dull here and no prospect of a holiday so trying to get school work sorted incase the sun comes back out. I work in a 39 place nursery class [78 children per day] with 1 teacher and 2 nursery nurses. As you can imagine record keeping, observations etc. are difficult to keep up to date with the numbers in question. However, my head wants information on entry and has arranged 10 minute parental interviews at the beginning of term. I have to make a questionnaire to gain enough information for him to use towards value added assessment at the end of reception. I have always had a questionnaire about the child such as things he/she likes, worries etc. …

We were picked up on our ofsted inspection for not showing on paper planning for the individual child- Does anyone have a copy of the form they use on how you show planning for the childs next steps and planning for the childs individual needs? Does this make sense? Its been such a long day need to go to bed! Grateful of any help x

Help! Timetable - Focus Activities

Hi Everyone, Am currently adjusting our timetable (for what feels like the millionth time!) to include at least an hour of uninterrupted play and more child initiated planning. I think this will be good for the children but am really struggling to fit it all in as we will have 50 YR and 39 YN am/pm children. Do you think it is enough that Reception children will have 2 daily large group sessions (up to 17 children), 1 in phonics and 1 in maths and then will access 3 small group focus activities per week e.g 1 guided reading, 1 guided write and 1 maths per week or do they need to complete a small group focus in both maths and english per day? Am busy getting together some Transition Guidance materials have the fab Sally Featherstone books- Making it hapen in Year 1 & Smooth Transitions & QCA Continuing the Learning Journey... All I need! Hello I was wondering if anyone out there can help me, I work in a nursery and we want to devise a new sheet that will cover all the early learning goals for each individual child, we have tried ourselves and are finding out that it is not that simple, we also need to incorporate the where do we go from here? Hi i know this topic has probably been up and up again... but i know observations etc. havent really been kept up to date and in september im coordinating foundation stage and want nursery/ rec to be following same things.... we have decided to make it a priority in sept - using sticky labels etc phots etc. .... but how much do we need for each child... am really worried about what ofsted will say ..... also the long observsations - is that still i per child every term? am really worried becausde i know its an important area and its not very good at the moment
