   Fairy Stories Planning

   I am doing fairy stories as my topic this term and it has been my favourite topic so far. We did the three bears rap today and the children loved it. However, while I seem to have lots of ideas for most of the areas of learning, I am struggling with literacy. I must admit my training was pretty useless in this area and as a result I have very little confidence in my planning. I can spend a couple of hours just on my literacy planning and it's driving me mad. So my plea is basically for any literacy ideas on the following stories: The Three Pigs, The 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Little Red Riding hood or Snow White. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

   next week i am planning to do some work on rhyming patterns and alternative rhyming endings, we are doing 'growing' at the moment so I was thinking ' mary, mary, quite contrary' or another rhyme about planting and digging...has anyone done a similar activity / ideas they'd like to share. thanks charlotte

   Hi all, hope all is going well. Was wondering if anyone out there could help me. I have done a display on Incey Wincey Spider. I have put some ELGs and stepping stones linked to display.    Classroom Monitor

   As a school we have recently bought in to Classroom Monitor. As far as I am aware it is an ICT package which allows you to input data to track the children's achievements through the SS and goals. I have recently begun to input data for my class but I feel it will be a very long process. Does anyone use this? Is it valuable? I am aware that it is very good for summarising e.g. girl/boy info, grouping and to make individual reports etc. Please let me know how this is working in your FS class. Thanks.

   Hi, Does anybody else level their children for reading, writing and numeracy using the P Scales? In order to track the children's progress I level in Dec, Mar and Jun and this data is shared with the school and used to monitor progress into Year One. Where would you expect a child to be on the p scales in Mar? Does anybody have an aletrnative system based on profile points e.g. 3 in Dec, 5 in Mar? Thanks

   Does anybody work for an LEA that has produced handbooks, etc. to help people in mixed age classes? Me and some other teachers/TAs who have R/Y1 are hoping to produce something but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it has already been done!
