Our Garden - Shared Reading

Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone has ever done 'Our Garden' by Alison Stutley as a Shared Reading book, and if so what activities did you do? One of my ideas was to label the parts of a plant, but other than that I am unsure what else to do. We are looking at Jasper's Beanstalk this week first, and will be doing some sequencing activities, planting beans, independent writing activities, so if anyone has ever done 'Our Garden' and has any ideas I would be very grateful. Many thanks G.

Last year I found some fantastic documents on this site, but can't find them now I need them!!! It was 2 documents relating to the same area eg sand or book corner .One was called "What can adults do to promote learning in the -------? and the other was called "What can we learn by using the ---- independently?". They were A4 and had links to the 6 areas of learning and a picture in the middle. Please does anyone know where they are. Thanks

I have been mulling this over for a time and I would appreciate your views please. I work in Reception and operate a free flow system in the morning where all the 'jobs' on offer relate to my mini-theme of the week which is encompassed by an umbrella termly topic. My TA and I pull out children to work with on work that is sometimes differentiated by ability but is sometimes an experiential activity. For example, this week and the next we are doing pirates and on Monday we are going to make authentic pirate biscuits, taste them and imagine being at sea for weeks and only having these to eat. I think the children will enjoy this. BUT sometimes I plan things that th…

BEWARE!!!!!!! I am a very angry nursery nurse!!! I'm frustrated by the way the teacher changes her mind at the drop of a hat! I've just heard today, via a text, that our topic for the next 6 wks has been changed to night and day. I'm just wondering if any of you have used this as a topic for nursery. I'd appreciate any plans you may have.

I am being observed by our head teacher and was thinking of going along the line of helping Mr Crocodile plan his picnic. Does anyone have any good ideas for activities other than making invitations, sandwiches or so on. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY BRILLIANT LESSONS THAT YOU COULD RECOMMEND OTHER THAN THIS?. I get so nervous about observations...

Hi Everyone, I have a lesson observation coming up and the head wants to observe MD and the children doing counting: numbers as labels and for counting. I have children in my class who started in September but also have children who have only been in school half a term. I also would like to use the outdoor learning environment: was thinking along the lines of a treasure hunt kind of activity. Can anyone help with some suggestions and activities please? Thank you Mel C
