hi everyone Just wanted to pick your brains. Next term we have been given the topic machines. Nursery are doing toys and year 1 are doing how machines work. So far we have decided to do wk1 - people who help us ( machines they use) and have a police car and ambulance coming in wk2 - park ( looking at forces etc) wk3 - around our homes wk4 - robots / pixies / roamers wk5 / 6 - transport was just wondering if anybody has any different ideas as to the diiferent way in which we could planning for this topic. cheers x

I have beenn asked by the head to come up with % of where i want the majority of children to be at the end of each half term for the whole of the foundation stage. E.g 30% to write name in nursery by end of autumn term .Has anyone had to do anthing similar or got any suggestions??PLEASE!!

Sorry in advance. Yet another crisis of confidence from me...I have so many things that I don't know where to start. I promise that one day I will write something positive - I don't know when...! This is only my second year teaching in Reception and my present class is very different from last year's class. Last year my class were happy to work independently, selecting and managing their activities from the range on offer. I arranged a picture system whereby all the jobs for the morning had a picture with a certain number of velcro spaces underneath. Hello and good evening to all! Right, I need a little advice. Whilst doing some general PD assessments I have noticed that one of the boys in my rec class runs in a funny way. It is very hard to explain or describe.... he seems to run with his feet at quarter to 3 not bending his legs very well, he can't hop and finds all gross and fine motor control very very difficult. He finds fine motor skills: scissor work, writing, drawing very very difficult. He trips at the slightest thing too. Hi, Myself and the Nursery nurse have been given the 'enjoyable' task of rewritting all the Early Years policies (note we are not co-ordinators). First, does anyone know of a website that has examples of good practice so we can make sure we are on the right track. Secondly, there are sections on writing targets on 'speaking and listening' and assessing each area every half term. e.g. HFW, number recognition, speaking and listening. I assess the children throughout the term and change my planning accordingly, should i be doing tick sheets at the end of each term for these areas? Need help again! Friend is going for an interview, and she has been asked to prepare *a topic web to develop the theme of the Enormour Turnip for 6 weeks *detailed plans for the first week of the theme *a plan for the first day to introduce the theme for all areas of learning For the latter she has to have it prepared for the intervew day and present to a small group of children. am having nightmares with evidence files or whatever you call them. Some schools seem to keep stacks all neatly stuck in scrap books beautifully annotated. Its driving me nuts!!! I have a box full of photos and bits of work but with no oder to it. any one got anything quick easy and useful they would like to share?
