Hi all, i need to discuss and reflect (God I hate that word!) on the ethical and legal frameworks in early years and acknowledge differences in beliefs, practices and social environments of individuals and groups. Anyone give me any suggestions on diversity in their schools? Have done things such as inclusion for travelling children etc and celebrating festival such as Divali, but now getting bogged down. thanks

Hi all, Put today aside to crack on with my planning 'around the world'. Have picked up some good ideas from the forum already e.g' we are making passports to begin with, going to have a jungle in role play area. I am going to concentrate on hot and cold countries ie; north and south pole, africa and Caribbean. Look at animals/food/houses etc but don't actually know where to start. I have a range of fictional books to include but no non-fiction books. Realised I don't know enough basic facts to build on and everywhere I've looked on the web is very in depth/hard to break down into simple interesting facts for children. :oPlease help me!!!! Anyone know of any good child-f…

I hope there is someone out there who can help me. I have been teaching Year R for a term and although the planning of the previous teacher is very good it is written out as medium term plans like ks1 and 2 and I am finding that this is just not good enough, io would love to work purely through topics but am wondering how people intergrate dare i say it nls and nns objectives aswell as elgs' - it all seems so much to get into such an important year! we also have as a school the dreaded inspection looming within the next eighteen months and I really want to have the planning all complete and ready to impress which gives a true reflection of what really goes on in my classr…

hey everyone This site has been soooo helpful!! But I think I have read so much that have feel helpless in my planning. At the moment I am really working myself up with planning for next term . I have taught reception for a term now and have loved the experience. I am the only early years teaching so I am doing planning on my own. I did a long term plan just showing topics to be covered, but I havn't done a long term plan outlining early learning goals to be covered. I am just really confused out the elg's. The long term plan indicates what elg to cover over the year, however I am covering all the elg over the term. when it comes to weekly planning how many…

As an NQT teaching reception I am working on my planning for September. I have decided upon my topics for the year but am wondering how I can complete the long term plan to show equal coverage of elgs when i'm not sure what i will be doing in each of the topics. Does this make sense? The school are due for an Ofsted inspection.
