Planning Format For Outdoor Area?
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi everyone, Thanks to all who've answered our posts so far, you're all very helpful! Ok, we currently give our head a weekly independent activities plan which includes a section on outdoor provision plus a weekly numeracy plan and a weekly literacy plan (which also include outdoor provision). Today she's asked us to provide a separate outdoor plan as the other plans don't have enough detail. We feel like we're suffocating under a sea of plans!! So my question is: do you do a separate outdoor plan and if so what does it look like PLUS how many plans do you do altogether? Thanks in anticipation! Jess

Planning Formats

Hi i'm a new member on this as of today. It's comforting to know that other people have questions too. I have taught reception for three years and am still finding the paperwork difficult. Last year we had a nursery class included and now we are trying to work as a unit. I'm sure that you all have wonderful ideas which hopefully you can share. The problem i'm having is that i have a class of 34 (soon 35) 23 of them are from the nursery and 11 from outside. I'm not sure where to start with the sound work as some know all and 11 know few. I don't want to confuse the new children but don't want to bore the old. Where should i pitch it? The older ones need blending. To top …

Weekly Provision - Objectives?
by Guest- 19 replies

As Ofsted are in tomorrow I have been thinking about my planning and am wondering have I done enough? I would love to know if others have a learning objective for each activity, for example, the sand, train set and playdough etc, depending of course on what resources you are using with them. If anyone does this I would really appreciate seeing a format because at the moment I am only listing what I am doing, for example, buckets and spades in sand pit.

Differentiation

Has anyone else ability grouped their Reception class yet? I was severely criticized by my Deputy Head last week because I had not grouped my class by ability in Literacy and was not offering differentiated activities. I was told I was not meeting the needs of the children and they were not making adequate progress. These are children who had only been in school for three weeks and some were only in their second week of being full time. Up to then, I was very happy in that the children were socialising well, following routines and most had settled happily into school life. However, I finished this week totally fed up and despondent.

Focused Activity Planning

Hi I am pulling my hair out with this one!!! I wonder if anyone could shed any light for me. I complete a weekly literacy and a weekly numeracy plan. I have consulted two AST's who then advice me to do focused activity plans for the week, so for example this week I am doing a focused literacy activity, a focused numeracy and a focused creative activity. I will have to type these out as well as my literacy and numeracy plans. Is this common practice, I just feel like I am writing things down repeatedly!!! Can anyone shed light on how they do their weekly plan and do you do a weekly overview and daily plans!! HELP PLEASE There seems to be little or no consisten…

Assessment Formats And Evidence
by Guest- 7 replies

I was wondering if anybody could help me with assessment evidence as I'm sure I'm not doing it right and it seems so cumbersome. I spent the summer doing the medium/long term planning for the year - the ELGs and activities/experience to be provided to ensure they can all be met. Its all split into half term sections. In my weekly plans, I am doing the same thing in more detail, adding stepping stones from the yellow, blue and green as well as the ELG and then the activity/experience. I don't know if the profile statements need to go in these weekly plans or where they fit in. I have a set of assessment lists for the children - just squares with one name per square. O…

Hi I am desparate for any help possible. I am due to be assessed on a physical activity with a group of year ones. I have to include creativity, imagination, gross motor skills and balance. Ive been thinking of a jungle theme. Firstly I need a small peice of music in which the children can move to i.e loud for elephants, fast for tigers, jumpy for monkeys etc. I havent a clue of how to warm up. Perhaps a small game of simon says, but adapting it to the jungle master says. i would probably get the children to run around in between. Anybody got any ideas, even if i need to adapt them. Oh and the head teacher is doing the observation FANTASTIC. I would also be g…

Daily Routines

Hi, I start at school on Monday and have spent ages playing about with a timetable but still haven't managed to decide exactly how I would like to plan the day. On my last practice it was very informal and I would love to strike a balance between the two. I only have the children in the mornings and need to fit in literacy and numeracy every day. Can't see how I will manage to fit in handwriting, reading, and all other areas of the curriculum - Araghh!! I know this topic has been covered in the past but I would love to hear what others have planned for this year. I would also like to know how many teacher directed activities the children have to complete …
