sorry to write again i am still stressing about the interview Ive got on Tuesday for reception/year 1 job- brightest reception and weakest year 1. have taught year ones for a year and done bits of supply in reception. would love the job. would this be a typical day.. self registration (what actually is that??) carpet time and sing register to them class room set up like reception with zones- sand, water, big construction, book corner, role play, computer. literacy-- 2 groups possibly one for first half term and year 1 get extra at another time? ability for word work using pips and phonics. hi i wrote about a week ago explaining that i was applying for a job teaching reception/yea1 brightest reception weakest year ones. i have got past the first hurdle and have been offered an interview- i think its a normal interview no teaching or any thing. i know the school as i supply teach for them. i haven't had an interview aince 1998 when i first started teaching. can anyone offer me any good things to think about and prepare for. i have a general idea how id set up the class etc and have looked at the forums for help. any pointers? anyone recenly had an interview? enimod@hotmail.com

Ok, as promised in a previous thread, I am attching my medium term plans for Autumn 1. It was suggested by several members that it would be useful to share planning, so that we could lighten our own work load by taking ideas from other people and adapting plans to suit our own setting. These plans were initially downloaded from a site on the internet (will have to search to get the correct address - will try & let you know) by the previous reception teacher, I have amended them to suit my own needs, but have kept the same format, which I find very useful. HI i'm new to the forum. Just had an OFSTED with a mixed YR/1 class. I am really struggling with organising the two so all children get what they need. I would like to extend the FS curriculum style of teaching in year 1 but not sure how to plan and organise this so each child get the elements of literacy and numeracy throughout the day. Any planning formats or ideas would be very useful.

Quite a large number of my reception children have very poor pencil control - any great ideas on how to teach them this. I have been doing the pencil control activities today with the wiggly lines etc. Also writing their name sin yellow for them to write over - any other wonderful suggestions. I am an NQT needing some inspiration. Chris

I have started a post graduate course on Reflective practice in the foundation stage. For my first assignment I have to observe two children and determine whether they are engaged in simple or complex play. What I need help with is a simple proforma on which to observe the children. I am one of those people who normally write loads of notes and then misses what the children are actually doing. If you have a sheet that you use, could you post them so that I can have a look?
