Walt And Wilf

I know that WALT and WILF have been mentioned recently in the Success Criteria thread, but I'm beginning to get desparate. We have just been told that we've got to put WALT (What are we learning to do) and WILF (What I'm looking for) on our planning sheet - I have spent all Saturday staring at a blank planning sheet because I just don't understand what I'm supposed to do. I already put learning objectives on - which are usually stepping stones or ELGs, then the activity, then an assessment or differentiation comment. Is WALT just the ELG put in child speak? and the WILT the success criteria? and, if everything has to be differentiated at three levels, do you nee…

Planning From Scratch

Hi everyone, I am having a nightmare. I am an NQT and trying to sort out LT, MT and ST planning. I have looked at loads of examples and am now confused. Do most people do a seperate weekly lit and numeracy plan to the other areas of learning, or do you do it all together. I have planning I did last year, but am now trying to come up with a format to use, espcially the weekly plan. Do you list all the SS and ELG and just identify the ones you are covering and how. I would love it if someone could send me their LT, MT for this half term and their weekly plan for this week, so that I can see if I am on the right track. The school don't really have a format as their ve…

Hey all. Have just subscribed because I would never have gotten through my NQT induction year without this sites' guidance - thank you all. I've been enjoying the MTP sharing thread that you've all started, which gave me the confidence I needed to sit my FS co-ordinator down and request that we address the issue that for the last year there have been no LTPs or MTPs to work from - it has been a simple case of planning as a when. Hard work as an NQT (but as an NQT I also had the audacity to go ahead and do my own for my file anyway!). As I'm in a double classroom with the FS co-ordinator anyway, it's hard to have to resist the urge to go ahead with certain things be…

I hope enjoyed their first day back. I know you must all be really busy right now but was wondering if anybody could help me. In our Nursery and Reception we are having enormous problems with record keeping, observations and assessments. LEA gave an INSET that just gave us all a short nervous breakdown - no time for a full length one!!! Is there anybody who would be kind enough to share their format, forms etc. for observation, assessments and records in Reception and Nursery with us? Please!!! I would be so grateful for any help and advice, Ruthanne

No Planning

Hi Guys, I’m getting quiet stressed because I have nothing done for the beginning of term… I got my job at the end of term and had no contact with my school till last week when I went in. The only other teacher there was the nursery teacher who told me my children would be turning up for another three weeks. I was given the planning folder for last year (which turned out to be for the wrong term) so I have no idea what I am supposed to be covering. So I have no planning because I don’t know what topic I am supposed to be covering (should I be picking this now or continuing what the school already does?), I cant plan literacy because the school uses Ruth Miskin…

I have been feeling really guilty about not sharing plans, but as we are setting up a FS Unit our plans are still in the planning stage!!! So I thought I would offer a copy of last years plans - I taught in the Nursery - these plans did develop over the year especially as we had a newly built outdoor area, but I thought this might be more useful at this time of year. Please not that this format is on Excel - before I learnt how to use it properly!!! so please excuse the text boxes!!! The codes on the left refer to codes on timetable - e.g. C= Circle Time, A= Art Area. Hope they are of use to somebody, if not at least I don't feel so guilty anymore!!

Sorry folks! It's me AGAIN! (big sigh). The planning is well under way, but.... I would like some ideas for the type of activities and planning I could be doing outside. The head has had an enclosed area built for rec over summer. It has nothing in it..I have 1 bike and 1 scooter....and no budget....and I have no TA so the activities will have to be supervised by myself..........I need ideas please.....I have got a sand and water tray inside...could these go outside? Suggestions please as I do not want the outdoor area to be wasted!  Sorry! Dougal x

Short Term Planning

Hi I'm in the process of changing the planning for our foundation stage unti which will be starting in September. We are not happy with the planning as it is too complicated and bitty (lots of different bits of paper and rotas) and will become even more complicated next year when there will be 6 of us all working from the plans. I have managed to produce long term planning and medium term planning formats that we are all happy with and am now looking at short term planning which is proving very stressfull! We need to incorporate independent choice and adult focus activities as well as routine everyday activites such as carpet group sessions when the children a…
