Hi all, New to the forum and new to the world of teaching! (NQT) I am in Reception in September and very excited but finding it a bit overwhelming trying to get my head around the school's planning formats. They follow a heritage curriculum where they have set topics throughout the school for each half term, and then in reception they plan based on these topics for each area (CLL, Maths and skills- UW, Creative etc). During my PGCE I was in a school where they used "reflection books" for the indoor and outdoor areas to inform planning. They filled these in on a weekly basis (both teacher and TA) about what they have observed, any new interests and how they were going …

I know this has been discussed but I'm still unsure. If finished/secure in 40-60months, do you then look at elgs. These are different or is it assumed that when secure in 40-60 months all elgs are finished. Sorry Catma as I know you have addresses this but any chance of one more go to clear it up. All Your help is very much appreciated always.

Hi, I've been using word tins in reception for a while now but it is quite arduous changing the words all the time and some children are on the same words for ages. I'd like to introduce a new way of sending these home and wondered if anyone could suggest anything that is easier to manage and positive for all children. Thank you.

Hi there, we have our CRB's done through the 'disclosures' company and are a bit panicky about the price per enhanced crb of £44, especially as our committee renews every year. Does anyone know if £44 is a statutory price, or are there other companies charging less? Thank you, Spiral :-)

Hi I hav been asked to update the old long term plan for a mixed rec/ yr 1 class at my new school. The template I hav been given has a space each term for the curriculum objectives to be covered in each area and specific activities. Also a space for primary framework units to be covered (num and lit) I am fine doing this for yr 1 but feel this is too formal and prescribed for eyfs. Surely we should be planning for what the children need- how do we know now what we want to cover in Feb etc? Please can you share your thoughts and ideas on this. Thanks.

Hi everyone . . . . .do you know if we have to report children's attainment in all 17 areas to year 1 or just those that give the GLD score? I know we have to report on the characteristics of learning but am unsure about the areas. Many thanks in advance to anyon who replies.
