Hi everyone, Just a quick query... How many people are still writing end of year reports as well as completing the CoEL statements? I have written all my reports which are very detailed. I am teaching year 1 from Sept so will have the same group of children. I feel that the reports cover what the children are like as learners and I know them very well so do not need the CoEL statements for myself as I already have that knowledge ready for year 1. I'm feeling like it would be a waste of time to basically repeat what I've already written in my reports but just under the CoEL headings! I also don't think the parents would understand why I have duplicated th…

Hi Everyone, The end is in sight and isn't the weather glorious for a change. I am just wondering what people do for their on entry baseline activities. Do you just use observations or do you have planned activities? Mel B

Hi everyone! I met my new class yesterday that will be starting with me in reception in september! I hate to admit it but I came away from it feeling really apprehensive and stressed! Amongst my 30 children there are 2 children with autism and 1 tiny wee boy with global developmental delay amongst other problems! No mention of extra support has been mentioned and the more I think about it the more it is making me panic. Any words of advice out there Xxx

Hi, Would like to hear some other people's ideas on this. Do you give your 'new' Reception children anything to do through the summer? Or give the parents anything to help prepare them for school? Do you send anything home to the children through the summer? Thanks

Hi all, I really want to introduce a parents reading morning on fridays from September. This would involve inviting parents to stay on after school drop off and read with or to their children, maybe practise tricky words and learnt phonemes. I just wondered what everybody thinks and would love to hear from anyone who does something similar. How did you organise it? What feedback did you get from parents? How did the children respond? Thanks in advance. Jayney x
