Hi All, I needed some help & advice. I have got about 2 years of teaching experience. I have recently started working in a new school. It’s been 2 months in this new school. It is a temporary contract. The team leader & coordinator are always after me. They come in my class about 5 times a day. See what I am doing. Talk to the other adults & children. I have been observed twice since I joined. The first observation was between needs improvement & good. The second observation was inadequate. They always give negative feedback. I have got another observation in a week time. I am very stressed about it as if they again give me inadequate then…

Hello, I was just wondering how people set out a reception class timetable how many focussed activities do you have a week, some places have two different activities a day which seems a bit too many not enough time for good quality child initiated. Any help would be great

Hi I wondered if anyone had made summary sheets of the New EYFS developmental matters in age bands across the areas of learning?

We are trying to monitor progress through the devp matters bands over the year and are recording whether the children are emerging, working within or are secure in the bands. We are puzzling over the 40-60 month band and the ELG. Does working securely in this band include the ELG, or would it be the statements leading up to the ELG. if a child was assessed on entry at secure 30-50 months, would expexted progress be secure at 40-60 months, and more than expected progress (ie. good progress) be achieving the ELG? Any ideas??

My children all have a pretty good awareness of rhyme and we've done several of the activities from phase 1 letters and sounds. I want to move them on to generating a rhyming string both orally and in writing. This is something I've found really hard in the past and they always seem to do word association instead! We've made rhyming paper chains in the past and worked to see which starter word could have the longest chain but quite honestly I'm a bit bored with that and don't think that's a great start to an activity! Has anyone done anything to do with this objective which has grabbed their children?

Hi all, haven't posted in here in a long while but have started my Early Years PGCE (which I am loving! ) and am starting my block placement on Monday for 4 weeks in a Reception class within a FSU (have already done 4 weeks of preparatory days to get to know class, routine etc) and was wondering if anyone could recommend a list of planning books for various topics/ themes etc. I have a long wishlist in Amazon and in my basket waiting to be ordered but would love any firm recommendations that are/were valuable to you in thinking for creative, inspiring activities that stay true to early years philosophy and ethos. For instance, I have several books from the 'Classroom ge…

Hi everyone, I am starting to think about September and wondered how everyone sorted the settling period in Reception? We currently do home visits then settle mornings and then move to full time after a few weeks with 10 children each day on their first day. Just wondered how everyone approached this? Thanks

Referencing in learning journey?

Hi peeps - love reading through all of the threads on here, it's so helpful and interesting! Just wondered if everyone is still referencing evidence in their learning journeys? I have spoken to a few local teachers in my cluster and some have stopped some haven't! Sometimes I just think 'who am I doing this for?' It doesn't benefit the children it just makes finding evidence in particular areas a little easier. E x
