Hi, What do you understand from the 30-50months statements: 'Notices what adults do, imitating what is observed and then doing in spontaneously when the adult is not there?' Thanks Green Hippo x

Hi All, I'm being observed in school next week teaching maths and I am in need of some inspiration! The focus of the lesson is to see how the more able children are being challenged. As we are preparing for mothers day next week I would like to tie that in to my lesson. Your thoughts and opinions are much appreciated!

Hi All, have lost confidence lately I am doing Farms for my Nursery/Reception class on Monday when I am being observed. I am going to make the class and outdoors into a farmyard with lots of activities going on. This will be the 1st day back from half term. Do you think I need to do an input 1st (after assembly) or just let the children go into the activities then support them in their learning or do you think I should put them into adult led groups for the activities to begin with? Any help appriciated x

Hi, This is a bit of a random and possibly slightly embarrasing/stupid query but I'm going to ask anyway. Feel free to say 'doh' out loud! I've noticed that in the threads on here about themes, many people reply with lists of things that they have done with their children - I'm just checking that these are a mixture of teacher-led activities and resources/ideas for use in the continuous provision? Not all teacher-led ideas? So when enhancing for a 'theme' you would provide theme-based resources for children to choose from which are relevant to the over-all provision that you want your children to access at that time. So,we provide different themed resources within provi…

Just wondered if any of your wonderful people have any planning/ideas around this story. After a particuarly stressful week at work and with my daughter who has special needs coupled with a major lack of sleep and OSTED imminently looming I am beginning to go into meltdown and have brain freeze! Any help or support you can offer would be very gratefully received! H x

Anyone else feeling like they are drowning in paperwork? I have observations and photos coming out of my ears. Wouldn't mind if I thought what I was doing was right or effective. After watching the videos from OFSTED I am now totally confused with how to run my Reception Class as we have lots of opportunities for child initiated learning and now thinking maybe I should have more focussed sessions as tables etc. Not only that the writing exemplifications for writing in particular seem to have become much harder especially when it is collected during independent/free time (or is that just me?) level 1 in Year 1 used to be punctuated and well spelt! If that wasn't e…
