Help! Interview
by Guest- 4 replies

I've been asked to go to an Interview next Tuesday. I have only just got a letter through from the school today asking to teach a short ten minute Phase 2 letters and sounds activity. I have all my planning and the school does not say where the children are at the moment. I wanted to plan for something out of the ordinary but struggling to come up with some ideas. I was going to start the activity with a recap of all the phase 2 sounds and tricky words. Not sure what I can do after that...any one have any ideas?

Christmas activity inspiration! 1 2

Hi all, I work in a Reception class and looking for something to get my children inspired to do lots of activities that is Christmas related. Had the idea of finding a letter from Santa saying that he has lost a reindeer and then to plan some activities - make some lost posters, draw what they think reindeer looks like, research reindeers, write to santa, etc. Anyone know of any good books that would tie in with this? Or any other ideas that you have done before that really got the class excited and motivated linked with Christmas? Thanks!!! Ps - I have also got a observation with the head so need a whole class lesson to do linked with this!

Hello I am being observed by the head teacher next week with a writing focus. My class are currently christmas crazy so going to go with this! I was thinking about a letter from santa saying he has lost his sack or reindeer or something that the children will then need to make lost posters for. Any great ideas that forum members have done in the past as feeling a bit nervous about this in an ofsted year so pressure to get outstanding. Thank you

Tapestry Reception Teachers

Hi everyone, I have posted this in the Tapestry forum but wondered if anyone reading this forum would be able to help. I am really keen to start using Tapestry but would love to get feedback from schools using it. I am sure it is absolutely secure etc but we had some questions regarding safeguarding and wondered whether anyone in county had looked at it and approved it? Our concern would be posting photos of other children in other children's learning journeys. We do this at the moment and just ask parental permission but would there be any implications to these now being in digital form? I would be really grateful for any feedback. If anyone is already us…

Question about UW
by Guest- 8 replies

Just a quick question about Understanding the World DM 40-60 months. Am I right in thinking there are only one or two statements for each aspect? Most of the children in our Yr R classes are emerging 40-60 months and I'm not sure how to show progress throughout the year with so few statements. Should I use the 30-60 months statements (although the learning journeys from their pre-school settings show they have achieved most of these) or should we start looking at the ELGs (which I thought were an end of year assessment)?

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for a lesson observation in numeracy. I have a reception / year 1 class. For the first time some of the year 1s are more able than in previous years. I am looking for fun activities when adding 10 more both practically and with a 100 square. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
