So feeling a bit stumped..... It started with cookers being bought in by one girl and a red leaf by another.... It's autumn. We looked at why teddy was getting cold outside in our bear cave ( my job share is 'doing' hibernating animals Thursday and Friday....) we are off for a nature walk tomorrow and it now seems I have a lesson obs on Wednesday.... Supposed to have a literacy focus but this for me could be speaking and listening.... Any thoughts for something amazing? Inspiring.. I am not in the slightest inspired :-(

Coding evidence

Hi all. My team and I are wondering how you all code evidence. With the old profile grid we would number each piece of evidence and then write that number against the profile point- that worked. We have tried doing the same with the new eyfs but against all the DM statements and it's just not working. Considering there was suppose to be 'less paperwork' we are not feeling that at the moment. It's taking us hours and we haven't got hours! So my questions are- do you code or do you just collate evidence in a special book? If you do code how do you do it- against all DM statements or just against ELGs? Can I add that we have 3 reception classes and we know …

Hi everyone, I have been looking at the EY data for my setting as we have pupil progress meetings next week. I am feeling comfortable with using the new framework in Reception and tracking is looking good. However, there is one thing I am still a little unsure about. When judging if children in Reception are emerging, expected or exceeding do you base it on where they are in terms of the ELG? And does this only happen at the end of the academic year? My setting is in an extremely deprived area and most children have come to us working within the 30-50 month band or lower and I would hate to think that they will not be seen as 'expected' unless they have achieved t…

A rise in Speech and Language Needs?

I'm not sure if it is just my cohort but has anybody else found they have more children with speech and language needs? I have 9 children that I have serious concerns about and 6 of which have had no issues raised at their previous pre-school setting. These needs are having a massive impact on their learning and their parents haven't had any previous concerns either. Just wondered if any others are in a simliar situation.

Hi All, I've been to a meeting of Reception teachers tonight and we were discussing planning. I was fairly happy with my planning for new framework before this meeting but some of the stuff people were sharing was unbelievably detailed and had so many bits that I haven't got on mine. One of them was a leading teacher. So now I'm having a major crises of confidence and don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I know there isn't a 'right' way to do it but I want to ensure I've got all the elements that I'm supposed to have. If you have any examples of your Reception class planning or just the areas that you include, please, please help, if only to put my mind at ease. Than…
