Not sure if this is in the right place but I am sure someone wonderful will move it if it isnt! We have got a very high number of children with communication and language difficulties this year in our nursery and I was wondering if anyone could recommend an effective programme to support their development, like an intervention group we can do ? Thanks, Emie

Hello there I was wondering if anyone has a type of behavioural obs sheet cum checklist for me to use on a little boy in our setting who is showing signs of difficulties in understanding others and managing his own feelings. I am sure that I have seen something before whereby the observer monitors the child for a specific length of time noting, certain things like time at an activity, triggers to raising levels of anger, impulsive behaviour, odd facial expressions etc Before I try and cobble something together I thought I would ask here. Have had a really hard day with him and although he has only just started mum has also voiced her concerns. When I mentioned that …

Hi I have a bit of a child prodigy on my hands. At the home visit last week parents mentioned she could already read ( I nodded and smiled and thought a couple of words maybe) well I assessed her today as I was curious and OMG she flew through both phase 2 and 3 assessments, knew all the tricky and decodable words for both and when I tried her on a book she read a gold level fluently with expression and intonation. She turned 4 at the end of August and is young in other respects. Has anyone ever come across a child like this before? Any top tips? I'm wondering what to do with her a little as she clearly has no need for the phase 2 phonics we will be starting in a couple o…

Am settling my new class in and getting to know where they are and what they need as I complete baseline information. Just wondered how others are doing with this and if anyone has any formats to share of how they will present it and in particular analyse it? I feel like my brain is in danger of overheating with trying to absorb all the curriculum changes and alter all my paperwork!! Look forward to sharing ideas with others xx

Hi, I am FS Manager at a school based FS unit. I am quite happy with what we do for our weekly indoor planning but was wondering what people do for outdoor, and if anyone had any formats they wanted to share. Outdoor provision is something i have been working on for around 3 years and just sont seem to be there yet. How do people make outdoors manageable? Do mose people have the majority of things out and just add weekly/daily or do people change all resources over?

Lesson Observation - Mind Blank!
by Guest- 0 replies

Hi everyone, I have had a total mind blank! My children have shown a massive interest in dragons and eggs! So last week I made some eggs (from abcdoes.com) and we have been waiting for them to hatch and today they did! We had a little dragon with only one wing hatch and he left them a story 'we;re goin on a dragon hunt' so the information we have is that dragons live in caves and we need to help him find his family there- i have turned the R.P area in to a castle and writing area in to a deep dark cave but I am struggling to plan ideas for continuous provision/child intiated learning especially as I have an observation on Thursday. For the observation I was t…

Hi, I was hoping that someone wouldn't mind sharing a typical report format with me for Reception. Our new head is looking at reforming ours and wants to have exampes of others so that we can change ours. I have collected a few from friends teaching in other schools and was hoping for some help from the Forum! We report twice a year - a smaller one at xmas and then a larger one in the Summer but any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks so much! Sam

Reading Books...

So then I have £600 gifted to my class by my PTA to revise reading books.... Any suggestions on books? Ideally I wold like decodable books that link with letters and sounds. So when we have taught ' s a t p ' we can send home a book with those sounds in and so on. Is there something out there like that... About to start looking but thought there may be someone on her with some recommendations....
