Ive returned to work in reception from maternity leave and will be job sharing with another teacher. Previously at the beginning of the year I have planned for the children to do one focus lit/num/topc activity a week. Talking with my colleague today about planning and who does what she wants us to do 2 focus lit/num/topic a week. I would do one meaning i would have to get 2.5 groups done in one session and she would do the same. To me this seems a bit much so early on. Would appreciate your thoughts and what you do

Reception Weekly Planning Format

Hi everyone I wonder if people would be really kind and share their weekly guided planning formats with me? I am trying to change ours. The planning format that is in place now is the same as the Year 1 & Year 2 format. It has learning intentions, success criteria, key questions, adult led input, HA, MA,LA activities and plenary on it. I used this in Year 2 and found that I was putting things on it and never covering them as I did day 1 then followed the children's lead. We only have to plan for 3 days then reflect. I want a format that is proactive and allows for amendments. I've revamped the continuous provision one and am happy with that, its j…

Hi - just wondering if people had completed these on their new intakes yet? if so - have you given an assessment for each area of learning as a whole or for the individual 'aspects' within them ?

Hi I am planning a day of activities on Spain as part of European day of languages on friday (each class has to choose a country) and am needing a bit of inspiration. I have a parent coming in to teach some Spanish (daughter bilingual hence choice of Spain) and the I plan to have a rotation of groups to make tomato bread, flags, but am now struggling to think of things that children can do by themselves independently for the other activities. As a class we will have a go at Spanish dancing!! And for snack olives and Spanish omelette. Any ideas for other activities ? Deb

When I went into school yesterday to do the last minute finishing touches in my classroom I realised that the sheets for continous provision I have in each area of learning will need redoing in light of the new development matters. Before I start this I just wondered if anyone has already done something similar and if so if they would be kind enough to share these. Many thanks in anticipation. Helen

I have put together a grid to track progress in our Reception classes from Sept. It begins with 40-60 months development matters because that is where most of our children are likely to be starting from. I wanted just one piece of paper for each child so have used a small font but I will enlarge it on to A3 and have it double sided. We will use a different colour highlighter each term to show progress and highlight/date the boxes at the bottom to show whether children are emerging, meeting or exceeding the ELGs. I hope it is helpful for others too Progress Tracker 2012.doc

thoughts from you good people on here..... first full day of school - kids were on the go all morning and came in from lunch play from the field a bit wild. my job share put on Lazytown for ten mins for some 'down time'. Earlier in the week (kids just mornings) we had been doing 'what our bodies are good at' and we had watched some of the 'sports day' clip at the start of the week - then threw ourselves into counting jumps, balancing etc letter of complaint came in about watching tv...... have we been told off justifiably?? your thoughts.
