   Hello How is everyone setting up their new classroom for their new intake with regard to table activities? I have a small world campsite in one area and wondered what others are putting out. I am looking for something exciting for the children's first day tomorrow!

   I am looking for a 'hello' song for my reception class. I do not want to use what I did in nursery as I have many children who are coming with me to my new class. I currently use: 'Let's say hello together, Hello, hello, hello, Let's say hello together, Hello, hello, hello.' Any examples would be really appreciated. :1b

   Hi, Hope you are all enjoying the summer hols so far. I am a reception teacher of 6 years and I was wondering if anyone is successfully using the objective led planning approach as suggested by Alistair Bryce Clegg? I recently attended one of his seminars and was very enthused about trialling it back at school, however if I'm being totally honest I did struggle with it. The children weren't particularly happy with us coming into their play, and the ones who were had no desire to complete the objective, even though we were introducing it though play that they had initiated.    Hi all, In September I will be having a reduced in take of only 18 as opposed to 30, there will be myself and a TA full time in the class. I was wondering how many observations you would expect roughly per child each week? My head has chosen the CEM baseline, and whilst I will be doing that during the first few weeks, I also don't feel it will give enough evidence to say where a child is in relation to the Development Matters as it doesn't include each area of learning. I am therefore feeling I will in effect be completing two baselines for the children which appears to be a lot of extra work. I will obviously be observing the children during their CI play…

   Hello I will be moving from nursery to reception in September and would be grateful for any ideas about what to do with the children on their first settling-in day (a.m. group and p.m. group). We go back on a Thursday, so I want to spend the first 2 days just getting to know the children and perhaps playing some simple games for us all to get to know one another; the children come from far and wide as well as the school nursery.    Teacher new to foundation stage

   Hi, I have that end of the academic year feeling but like many others still so much to do! In September I have a teacher joining our foundation stage team and they are moving from Key Stage 2. What resources/ books would you recommend they read look into in preparation for the new term? I don't want to bombard them but at the same time they need to be up to speed. My initial thoughts are * Foundation Stage Handbook * Early Years Outcomes * Letters and Sounds Any other ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance
