Examples Of Outstanding Planning

Hi everyone, We had a visit from Ofsted in January and they really liked our FS unit however the rest of the school were given notice to improve (therefore we were put under the same umbrella). We are now following lots of advice from local authority advisers who want much more detail going into our planning in order to make the school outstanding. I am wondering if anyone has any examples of planning they wouldn't mind sharing as at the moment I seem to be planning for hours and am questioning whether I am doing it correctly. Any help would be great! x

Hope someone can advise, sorry to talk shop in the holidays but I can't switch off until I sort this! Sad I know. I am newish to EYFS and inherited a planning format which covered N/R/Y1. They worked towards only one plan to cover the whole day as one session. Before that apparently there had been one plan for N/R Lit, one for Number and a third for afternoon R/Y1. This was abandoned as they felt it should all follow a full day plan and not be separate, they said as it as a unit, all should be on one plan. What do others do? Im torn as I don't want to be seen to be belittling anyone's work. Sorry its a long one.

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and new to teaching. I am an NQT with a job in Reception starting in September. Although I did the 4 year University teaching course I feel like now I need to put everything into practice I have forgotten it all. I'm hoping it will come back once I actually begin but I am starting to panic about September and I am just looking for some help/guidance. I have most probably put this post in the wrong discussion (Sorry). What would everyone say are the essential things I need to have done for September/ things that will help in the long run? Also the nursery teacher has said that we can plan together but she is on holiday and I f…

Ppa For Ta

I have just been given the timetable for my teaching assistant and on it there is an afternoon dedicated to PPA . From my understanding it was so she could do the learning journeys. I can see how this would help me out, as the journeys would be kept up to date as would the assessment (because I would ask her to cross ref against devel matters). There isn't time after school for her to do the journeys because she finishes at 3.30pm. however, would I not be better doing these myself and having her in class supporting learning? If she was out of class that is an afternoon of being unable to have outdoor provision, and we are very restricted in terms of outdoor provisi…

Hi - does anybody have a MTP format which is relevant for the new EYFS that they would be willing to share, or can anybody point me in the right direction of where I might find some examples which have been shared/discussed previously? Many thanks in anticipation .

I was just wondering what everyones planning consists of for the first week or 2? Both activity plans and continuous provision planning? We are mainly observing so there won't be much to write on plans, and we don't know the childrens interests as such yet. We are due to be inspected any day so want to be getting this right!

Baseline 2012!

Help! I've been a Foundation Stage Teachert for the last 3 years and the Foundation Stage Leader for 1 year- so some would say I should know what I'm doing. Baseline is now stressing me out. Here's what I usually do... Lots of child initated activities for example numbers in the sand, paint, letter tiles, role play, bikes, balls etc. I then make observation notes but with cue cards for other adults so they know what they are looking for. With the new Framework should I be changing what I'm doing??? Do most of you use your data from the pre-schools and take it from there? My main concern is recording baseline and showing progress (for the Head …

Hi, After 17 years teaching in Ks1 I am so looking forward to a Mat Leave cover in Foundation2.I have been itching to get a chance to teach in Early Years and have so much enthusiasm, I'm bubbling with ideas to help take our Reception class along a learning journey thats filled with fun and rich with learning experiences. As I have been pretty much prescribed what to teach term by term I now feel totally out of my comfort zone as I delve into tand attempt the planning for Reception. i have looked online at so many examples that my mind is swimming and I'm starting to feel very anxious and unsure about my abilities. So, if you have the time I would appreciate any adv…

Outdoor Bikes/scooters - Helmets?
by Guest- 14 replies

I am developing our outdoor area this year and wondered if we need to provide children with helmets when playing on bikes and scooters. It seems sensible to from a safety aspect but if they do not fit properly this could be worse. There is also the concern of spreading headlice!! I would be interested to hear what other schools do to get around this safety issue. Thanks
