HI all, Just thought i'd share a weekly planning format which looks like it would reduce work load. It has the old EYFS areas on but that is easily changed. It looks like it would suit a timetable where there are 3 whole class inputs throughout the day with AD activities following. Just another resource I thought some might like. Let me know if it is something you could use/adapt. It's from the Cornwall EYFS website: i_l_Weekly_planning3_for_over_3s1.docWeeklyplanningsheetunder3\'s1.doc

Timetable/daily Routine
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi I've searched the forum and not managed to satisfy myself with an answer to my question on daily routines in Reception!!! I will eb taking over from a teacher who has an extremely formal timetable of eng or maths all morning, with phonics before lunch. Then each afternoon is dedicated to either a science, art etc objective. This will certainly disappear once i'm in. What I want to know is do Reception teachers generally plan for an "Eng" "phonics" and "maths" session? Some timetables on here do. My plan is to have a daily whole class maths session leading into 1 adult working with 1 group while the other supports play. Then whole class theme carpet …

Hi all, In September i will be working, after many many years of being in open plan/free flow, an 'enclosed' classroom !!! EEEEEEKKKKK I have been into school today and have come away feeling very confused about how to organise the learning environment/continuous provision - so am seeking some advice form any practitioners who have been/are in similar situations. How have you set up the classroom - what 'areas' do you have/ how have you organised the continuous provision? The school i will be in is a 2 form entry school but the rec classes are not located togetether and do not have their own outdoor area! (they use the playground with KS1!) - So, in terms of setting …

Hi all Started a new job in January. The new school wants me to plan from a book each week. Every area should stem from the book in the enhanced provision plus many of the focused activities. I was also asked to follow a timetable eg RE Monday morning, Art Monday afternoon etc, etc. I found the whole planning business exhausting creating activities from a book rather than children's interests. Also they wanted long term topics decided at the beginning of the year. I was used to shorter topics/themes following the children's interests. Also for ppa my cover is the music specialist coming in for an hour one session and PE for 2 40 minute slots. I am finding it…

Does anyone know where to buy neutral and calm backing paper from? Everywhere I look there is bright and manic primary colours but would really like some beige/muted green etc in order to make the environment more harmonious. Thanks in advance

Hi! Having attended a couple of courses on the new EYFS, I have the understanding that there will be even more emphasise on involving the parents in the assessment progress. Has anyone got any new ideas of how they are going to go about doing this? We currently get parents to fill in an 'all about me' questionnaire at the beginning of the year, fill in 'wows' of significant things the children have done at home, add photos and comments in the learning journal and come in for 2 parents afternoons but I feel we may need to actually ask more specific questions about their child's learning? I was thinking of doing this as a face to face chat as I feel parents often feel daun…

Hi all, I am returning to FS after maternity leave and time in KS1 and i have to say i am a little worried!! I loved FS previously and was happy to have a mix of child led/adult supported activities with carpet sessions etc. We have spent time (2 form entry) re-arranging the environment so provision is better and children can access things but i am not happy with the nuts and bolts and wonder if anyone (who is more up to date than me) can help? A few questions: 1. When the children first come how do you organise it (so it's not a free for all!) We have 60 children in the department and want to make sure everyone is engaged but also safe as the building is on 2 levels…

Hi all, just been thinking about assessments for September. Does anyone have a format to help them keep track of which children have been observed and in which areas? - how do you organise assessments/observations? I dont want to just use a class list, I would like to be a bit more organised! Thanks in advance! Anje x
