How do you do it. We normally baseline for 3 weeks. During this time no 'teaching' takes place just interactions as they access continuous provision. Im aware we dont baseline for long but it concerns me that no 'teaching' would take place for 7 weeks if we extended.

Reception Short Term Planning
by Guest- 4 replies

am i right in thinking reception staff should use the 40-60 development bands for weekly/daily planning? found some of their plans from start of this year (sept), and they have put scale points/ELGS as objectives. our children go across mostly 30-50 secure or 40-06 emerging, so not sure why they have done this? will have a chat if i find out i'm right!! they should also use 30-50 for less able, i would think. that's what i would do if i moved to reception cheers guys x

Hi everyone, From September I will be moving up to Year 1 from Reception. We have the Huddersfield furniture on order, but I was wondering whether any lovely person has any templates of provision labels saved? I have already been through this mammoth task a few years ago and have somehow lost them! Thanks

Learning Journeys

Hi all, don't know if anyone will know this but I have been told the learning journeys will now have a greater focus during inspection and moderation. They have to show how the children have progressed and children need to be more involved in putting them together. Does anyone have any ideas about this as i will be new to reception and now getting worried about so much change! Thank you

In my class i have 45 children with 1 full time TA and 1 full time HLTA With so many children i a struggling with planning to childrens interests as i think there is no way i can plan to each childs individual interest all of the time! What im thinking is that if for example a child shows an interest in dinosaurs we put out the dinisaurs, books maybe some dinosaur foot prints and binoculars etc.. and see where they take it. However my concern is this is just one childs interest so how do i cater for them all?
