Hi all, enjoying this beautiful sunshine I hope! Thinking ahead now for next year and how we can best support the children, especially with phonics. Does anyone have a link to or have saved somewhere to upload, the jolly phonics actions with the words beneath. So we have the jolly phonics cards ie, s has a snake and the the left is the action and some words beneath that. I would really like just that bit, the action and words! Many thanks.

We seem to be unable to decide how best to do our baselines. In the past we have observed for two weeks, made lots of post its and then made a judgement from there also taking into account where nursery judged them to be. However all the post it observations we make are actually doubles of what is already in their learning journals from nursery! So is it the best way to do things?! Also does anyone ever judge children to be lower on entry to reception than they were on exit from nursery?

I was wondering if any of you kind people would mind sharing how you personally manage and organise planning from children's interests and planning based on what has happened that lesson, been observed etc So for example do you plan a lesson for a Monday in advance, all typed up etc then plan your Tuesday lesson on Monday night and just hand scribble it? Or do you plan a weeks worth of lessons then just scrap them if something unexpected happens? I am thinking less about adapting CP to childrens interests, and more about adult led activities, literacy etc. A range of different approaches would be useful for me to see please! Thanks in advance xx

Some advice needed... I have recently visited a large three form entry fs unit. They have recently had the big O. They were outstanding in foundation. They used a piece of software called Fingertips by Focus Education for their learning journeys. Their ofsted inspectors loved it - i also did! You used mobile phones to capture photos and video evidence and then had options to click on children involved and areas seen. It all then plugged into the PC and went into each child's 'file'. It just looked so great! Has anyone seen anything similar or has had any good / bad experiences with software such as this.... there must be more than one piece of software like this.…
