Hello! Our current topic in reception is Space! We are mid way through our topic and in 2 weeks time we are going to spend a week learning about the planets. (we have looked at stars, aliens and space transport so far) I am being observed and i wondered if anyone has any good ideas linked to planets? It is the last observation of the academic year so i have been told it can be on any curriculum area! If you have any ideas please let me know Amy

App Grids For Assessment
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi! Hoping someone might be able to answer a query for me! We have some very bright children this year who are working beyond the early learning goals. We have obviously continued to challenge them with activities, but it has been suggested by other members of staff that we should therefore be completing APP grids to show their progress. I seem to remember someone telling me (maybe on a course or from an early years advisor) that we shouldn't be doing this? Am hoping the answer is that we don't have to - I can't face yet more paper work!!! Thanks in advance.

by Guest- 3 replies

Hello all, I am a new member and am after some comments on my idea for a YR teacher interview on Tuesday. I am an EY trained experienced teacher but have been in KS1 for the last 5 years and am trying to get back to the FS Stage at this interesting time! I have to deliver a 30 minute writing-based activity to 15 mixed ability children at a reasonably challenging school and have had the following idea. Share learning intention which will be one writing and one speaking & listening. Pretend to be Goldilocks, have a picnic mat set out and a picnic basket. Intro myself as G, sing G went to house of bears to put in context and recap story. Read an invite I sent to…

Hello all I am being moderated on Thursday in the areas of PD and PSRN. I need to set up some CP that would enable me to do paired observations (i am assuming in these areas) and ideas as to what I could put out? I was thinking I could hide some numbers in the sand pit and see if they could find which ones had been stolen (we often have a pirate who borrows things!) any ideas greatly received x

Interview For Reception

I have an interview in a few days for a Reception teaching post. I will have 15 minutes to teach 15 children a phonics session - any ideas? I have been teaching in Reception for a year, though I wasn't formally trained in this area. I previously worked in KS2 and have never had an interview for this curriculum stage, as I was offered the post by my head teacher. My confidence is much lower than usual because of this. I'm a specialist in music, drama and ICT and would love to use this within the phonics session if possible. Thank you so much. Rob

Outdoor Resources

Hi all, We are currently trying to improve our outdoor provision. I have heard somewhere that there are nationwide "resource centres" which supply outdoor resources such as crates, tyres, guttering etc FREE!!!! (or for a small yearly charge). I can't remember where i heard it or what the resource centres are called and after hours of searching on the internet (to no avail!!!) i thought i would ask you wonderful people on here. I am sure there is someone who know what i am going on about!!! Thanks for your responses in advance
