The Chicks Are Coming....
by Guest- 13 replies

Hi folks Just found out that our head has ordered some eggs to arrive the second week after half term, and will be here, and (hopefully hatching!) for two weeks. This throws my plans out slightly, as it seems silly to continue with my planned topic when obviously this will take the children's interests. So, I have two weeks of chick-ness to fill. Does anyone have an ideas of activities/books I could use? Thanks xxxx

Eyfs Development Matters
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi, I am firstly not sure if I am posting this in the correct post and secondly unsure if I am being totally dumb! I have recently got a new job as an FS leader in a fantastic school with lots of passionate people all looking forward to change, however it is in a different authority to the one I was in before. In my old school we had a full time Reception and Nursery both planned from the EYFS profile, and assessed against it using the EYFS profile grid and learning journey scrapbooks to file evidence. In my new school the Nursery (currently part-time) and Reception run differently. The Nursery and Reception both plan using development matters how…

Planning For New Framework

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for a while as so busy so I am hoping someone may be able to suggest or help me. I will be new to reception in eptember and apart from trying to get my head around the new year group I am really worried about the planning. My school usually plan from the FSPs and these won't be available until after the Autumn term starts. Has anyone started their MTPs yet that I could have a look at or can give me an idea of how to go about it. Thank you

Job Interview Teaching Task
by Guest- 4 replies
- 1.7k views
Hi all My NQT has a job interview on Friday and has been asked to prepare a short teaching task for a mixed ability F2 class. She needs to teach a 20 minute speaking and listening phonics whole class session. It also says that as part of her interview she "may be required to explain how your activity would support children with their learning throughout the day". It says that she will have the use of an IWB. The problem is we are a bit flummoxed about the 'speaking and listening phonics' and therefore not sure how to help her plan something. Help please. Any ideas??!

Interview Observation In My Setting
by Guest- 11 replies

Arrrgh! I have applied for a Reception job and they want to observe people teaching in their current setting before the interview. I currently lead a Pre-school in a pack-away setting and am now worrying... Firstly, I do not want the rest of the staff to know I am applying for other jobs. What if I don't get it? It will create a really unsettling atmosphere for everyone. Secondly, we have a parent helper in every day and I certainly don't want the parents to get wind of the fact that I might be leaving as again it will unsettle them and lead to uncertainty. I would rather we told them if and when I get the job and inform them of the plan for a replacement. Thirdl…
