Just wondering if anyone has any wow ideas for the outdoors. The children in my class never seem to want to go outside even though we have free flow to the outdoors and child initiated access to the equipment and shed. I have tried asking them why and they just say its too Cold. I go outside and then end up coming back in as no one will come out without force sometimes a few boys come outside but all they want to do is ride the bikes or roll cars down the guttering. I have extended this play with them but they always revert back to whizzing cars down the pipes. I have tried getting things out of the shed as i thought they might not know what we have and i have tired small…

Hi there, Im writing an IEP for a child in my class. ok with all areas but I want to set him a target to get him to communicate with others freely. Not sure how to word it and make it measurable. Dont just want to put..... to communicate with toher children I think it might need to be more specific. He looks at other gestures etc says a few words now and again. He can talk he just chooses not to. he will speak to me and answer questions very briefly.other children ask him what he is doing and asks him to play with them but he just ignore them. Any advice on wording for this target would help..... thanks

Hi. As a staff we've been challenged to do some work with our children that will decrease the amount of 'teacher direction' given-especially to our highest attainers (This is as a result of a comment on our OFSTED report). I'm working on addition this week, and this is my idea: Number bonds to 10. can they think of a way to show the different ways of making 10. I'm hoping that this would allow them to explore the resources available and use what they feel comfortable with, and it would mean that they could record this in a way they feel confident with, or want to try out without me directing their choices. What do you think? I'm wondering how to start…

I have had 1 ofsted obs, PM obs and our SIP + head observing me and I find out that I am to be observed again in 2 weeks time by the SIP and a member of the SLT. Does it make any difference that I am a member of the SLT too. Cheers Cx

Playgrounds!

Hi folks, I am lucky as I have a large playground space but it's still not very exciting. I have added things like pots and pans for a music area sand tray water tray chalk boards painting easels writing table construction table but I'm desparate for some planting ideas. I will have to use small tubs as there isn't anywhere we can dig up! What do you have on your playground? I'm not the best gardener so anything hardy and easy to maintain would be ideal.
