Hello, has anyone any suggestions for some afternoon activities I could do with year 1 children about dolphins. Thought of learning some facts, labelling them, modelling them from playdough. My mind has gone a bit blank and struggling for some exciting, interesting things to do. Thank you.

Hi all! I hope your start of the new school year is going well! We are planning school trips at the moment at my school and we've run out of ideas for a trip linked to our topics for Reception age children. We are a school in north Surrey and our topics are: Food, glorious food, Once upon a time... (traditional tales), A trip to London and Gardener's World (In my garden). We're struggling to come up with a trip suitable for Reception that isn't too far away as well. Any ideas anyone??? Thank you in advance!!

Hi Hoping for some advice from yoy wonderful people. I have met my new reception class this week and so far they seem lovely. However I am concerned about how best to support two boys in my class. I completed my nqt year last year so I am relatively unexperienced so thought you lovely people might be able to offer some advice. One boy has spent most of last year in hospital being treated for cancer and is thankfully in remission at the moment. He is finding comibg to school quite unsettling and does not know any of the children I am trying to help him to make friends but he is more comfortable in adult company. Any ideas how best I can support his transition into…

Hi Please can you tell me how your key worker system works in your reception class. We don't feel ours is beneficial at all. I can see how it works in nursery but a not sure how to work it in a reception class?

Hello I have read lots recently about the value of role play areas without a specific focus...often referred to as deconstructed role play. I am curious to hear from anyone who has one set up as to how it is going (sounds great!) and what you refer to it as in little people friendly terms. Thanks Pauline

Hi, Can anyone help??? We are trying to develop our EY's PE sessions and our PE coordinator has no experience of EY's. Can you recommend any resources or websites (the school are considering getting Val Sabin) ? Or if anyone has any plans they would like to share? Thanks.

Hello. I teach in Cumbria but have joined the EYFS Forum on a personal subscription before I realised about the LEA subscription facility. I was wondering if there were any other EYFS/Yr 1 practitioners from Cumbria who also regularly use the Forum. Thanks

Hi Could people please let me know how many children they let access their outdoor area unsupervised? I generally let up to 6 children outside in the sand, water, etc. It can be hard to manage in a reception class with 2 adults. Thank you.
