Hi everyone I am after some inspirational writing acivities for my reception class. During the last half term the children have explored mark making for letters, lists, labelling pictures and maps, name tags for toys they had brought in and captions. We have also done mark making and patterns with ribbons and streamers, gloop, chalk, sand, paint, water and paintbrushes... I am starting to teach phase 2 of letters and sounds after half term. Any ideas????

Hi I am looking at using discovery bottles in a lesson observation in Nursery next week - some which I will prepare before hand and others that I will make with the children. So what has worked best for you and with what fillers - sand, water etc. I keep reading about corn syrup but not sure what that is ! The ones I have tried so far and like 1. Water and glitter - lovely effects 2. Water and crayon shavings 3. Coloured water and then add bubble bath I have tried the following but was not mesmerised ! 4. Coloured water and oil - mean to look like waves when you shake 5. Shaving foam and food colouring - didn't really swirl like it said So any advice appreciated…

A Good Camera For Fs To Use
by Guest- 7 replies

Does anyone know of a good children's digital camera? We want something that the children can use that is simple and takes good photos. The VTech and Fisher Price cameras don't have good reviews and we aren't thrilled with our Tuff Cam. I'd love to know if any of you have a children's camera that you like. Thanks, Ruth

Today I received a letter from Haven holidays. Seems if you register and get 70% of your parents to register, you get a fun and fitness pack. Looks really nice, just have to get my parents to register

Hi everyone, Im getting really frustrated now....I am sure there was a theme on here about ideas for challenge areas. I have searched just about every thread, but can notfind what i am looking for. Pretty sure i saved itin my favourites but no avail. Anyway there was pictures of how people have used small plastic water bottles, and added rice to some with letters in it for chn to find / water with oil inside for chn to explore. There was heaps of fantastic ideas. If you have any idea where these might be, please can you send me the link. If you have any ideas yourself for a challenge for ch, that would also be great xxxx

Hi all, just thinking about next week (even though it is the first day of half term hols!). I am intending to a 'assessment' week not anything formal just a way of finding out where my Reception children are at with their learning - partly so that I know I am catering for them but also our 30 kids are taught by key workers therefore I rarely have all children at any one time. Im ok with phonics assessment, but does anyone have a handy psrn assessment type 'checklist' they would be kind enough to offer. I dont like ticklists per se I just want all the practitioners who work in such close proximity with the children to be able to inform me in a visual way where they are u…

Mr Big

Hiya. I am planning to do the story of Mr Big for my class assembly in a couple of weeks. Mr Big is the story about accepting people for who they are, no matter what they look like. It was the free book given to all reception aged children a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I am trying to think of some songs that will fit into the storyline. Does anyone know any songs about being different or accepting people for who they are? All suggestions will be gratefully received!!!! Thanks Vicki
