Nursery Rhyme Nativity
by Guest- 7 replies

I am beginning to plan this years nativity play and heard a positive review about a nativity play with songs that have nursery rhyme tunes- thought this would make song learning easier! So far I have found 2 publications available- 1 has a CD and 1 doesn't. Wondered if anyone has used either and can advise whether they found them worthwhile? If not what are peoples general idea about whether the CD is necessary or not? http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/014301/details.html http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nursery-Rhyme-Nati...m/dp/184101236X

We are currently reorganising the reception day and I wondered how often other people do formal PE, it has been suggested we do it 3 time a week, but I think thats a lot of formal teaching?

This week our key text will be Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Obviously this is an old favourite and having done it for the last how ever many years I am planning the same old activities- these are perfectly good activities but my NN and I would love some new ideas and especially some to develop thinking skill and some messy activities etc. Thankyou

Hi Does anybody do a FS portfolio with evidence of good practice in Nursery and Reception? I don't mean Moderation just a nice file with evidence of good planning, photos, children's work. I thought this would be good evidence to show OFSTED. Tia

Bad Day!

Could any of you lovely people advise me on this?! After a day from hell I need some pointers! Im 4 weeks in at my new job (foundation unit) and they have always had there learning journeys organised chronologically/ in sections for each term but with the observations from all 6 areas of learning just mixed up - whilst I realise that many observations cover more than one area of learning I feel that some areas are not/wont be focused on as much as for eg PSE will be. I feel that the observations would be better organised if they appeared in designated areas of learning therefore if we are particularly missing out KUW or PD then this will be easy to identify. What do ot…

Reassurance Needed

Hi I have been teaching Reception for 5 years and believe that in that time I have gotten pretty good at it. Its taken me a while to get my head around EYFS (and I don't think I have completely) but I know that I am giving the children a well rounded curriculum. My problem is I don't think the rest of the school do - in particular the year 1 teacher. She is also head of the infants (which includes me but I do all the work for foundation stage!) but has no interest in the reception children until she recieves them as year 1's. WE;ve been back at school for three weeks and I've had constant sniping about what i haven't done - mainly heinemann maths workbooks (ahhhhhhhh)…
