I have been wanting to come up with some sort of way of including parents voice in our learning journeys and like the idea of a wow wall, i have read the discussions on here about the wow vouchers to be sent home and then for any wow moments to be recorded, I really like the iea of displaying these wows on a display that is accessible to parents but struggling to come with an idea of HOW to display them. Im afraid my creative side has not kicked back in yet.... Anyone who has been doing this do you have any pics of yours, or general ideas etc. E.g I have a board to use that is approx 1mx1m, and have 60 children in total to be included, would you designate a space per …

by Guest- 2 replies

We have a new child whose's mum is blind but child is fully sighted. We run a borrowing book library session. I'm keen that the child has access too and is exposed to images and text in a book format thats not available in the home.He will get that in nursery with sighted adults but this is the books he takes home.He has an older brother to share his selection with.I would however like to provide opportunities for mum and child to share a story. I can find braille story books but I'm struggling for a format like a duel language book where mum can read to the child but child has picture and text. I thought it might be nice to have a few for general section along with our d…

Autistic Child

I have a severely autistic child starting in my reception class tomorrow. He will only be coming for a couple of hours a day to start with and then we will be seeing how things go from there. From what I have been told he is quite calm but cannot really communicate and appears to like wandering around and looking out of windows and doors. He is very much functioning like a toddler I do have some support for the child but she is inexperienced, as am I in teaching someone with this level of need. So far I haven't planned anything for them to do as I was thinking that for the 1st week or so we should just do lots of observation and finding out what he appears to like…

Hi all, I have been given the role of FS co-ordinator in my school and I am currently putting together a FS co-ordinators file. I have found some really great ideas on previous posts. Something I cant find is a copy of the role of the FS co-ordinator? Or a kind of job description? Has anybody got one that they would not mind sharing? Also, I was thinking of putting together a FS portfolio, which will include good examples of planning and learning in nursery and reception. Does anybody already do something like this? Thanks for reading, hope your enjoying your hols and not working too hard!!

Hi, I am just trying to revise my planning formats...... once again!!! I'm looking at my medium term planning sheet for CLL and PSRN and the form from my LA has a column for NNS and NLS. I thought that the ages and stages objectives were the same?? Can anyone help me by confirming or telling me otherwise how I find the links to this?? Also, can I ask how people with reception do their short term planning? Do you do a weekly plan or daily or individual activity plans? Every time I think I've got my head around it I sit down and get confused again!!! Please help!! JJKD1

I am wanting to create my own SIMPLE version of SNAP and CONCENTRATION (max 8 pictures) using Powerpoint, for Reception Class. I have seen games created using a specialist software program. This option is way too expensive to purchase as the intake for our school is quite small each year. I am quite at ease using Powerpoint and have tried many times to get the correct effect (cards turning and flipping) but the STUPID thing has beaten me each time. I don't like things to beat me. I have Googled till I'm blue in the face. I am now getting a bit confused as some sites are talking about Flash. Does anyone know if this FLASH thingy got anything to do with it, or special code…
