Hi everyone, this is just a real quickie before i go into school for the first day (pd day) I set up a wood work area as enhanced provision on tuesday. The chilfdren are using real tools, nails hammers, and the one i am real scared about...a hacksaw. Ive heard of other settings provding this. But how have you found the chn using it. I'm sure they must be responsible otherwisde it wouldnt be in play. It does worry me slightly. Obviously the first weeek it will be very carefully monitored and the children will all get a good safety talk prior to using it. If anyone out there is using or has provided it in there setting. Would k;love to hear from you....one more thi…

Early Years Seal?
by Guest- 3 replies

I have recently taken on the role of SEAL co-ordinator in my school. I am a Reception teacher and at a recent staff meeting an Early Years Advisor briefly mentioned something called SEED which she described as an Early Years version of SEAL. I have trawled the internet and cannot find any reference to it at all. I was just wondering if anyone uses it/knows what it is? Thanks

Okay so I was informed just beofre the holidays started that I have a job as a foundation stage teacher until December. I am an NQT but 2 years after I qualified. Obviously we did not look at the foundation stage and I know a lot of people are in the same boat especially teachers who have been in the early years for a long time. Anyway, when I was in my day nursery as a nursery nurse, we had to observe all the children and plan from their experiences and never had topics or anything of that sort as it is the new curriculum. So I got used to this method. ANyway when I went to my training day in July for my new job in the foundation stage they are still looking at topi…

Hi We are having training on this at the beginning of term and although I have heard that it is a really good scheme I am a little concerned with how much time that I have heard is devoted daily to the scheme. I teach F2 and if its an hour a day I am concerned that I will struggle to fit other things in. I am due to start a LA maths scheme which requires a daily input plus we will be involved with ECAT. What are other peoples experiences with it and do you still do other CLL/Lit inputs during the week on top of the phonics.? This would make my timetable very much CLL dominant. Any opinions or advice would be great thanks

Hi, im starting to stress alittle about my new venture to Reception so im hoping you could share a couple of things with me- First one is what kind of things do you plan on doing in the first week back? Do you not plan and just go with the flow at this point to let them settle in or have some structured activities? Also, what do your children do first thing on a morning to busy themselves till formal registration or whole class work? Thanks for reading
