A while back I found somewhere on here a link to an interactive timer for tidy up time on another website. Blow me the time I really really need it, I can't find the link - I have searched the forum and 'googled' but to no avail - perhaps it's because of the very reason I need the timer for tomorrow (nightmare day)! Would really really appreciate it iof someone could help me out! Many, many thanks Lxx

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can help me. I will be teaching Reception (20 children) in sept after teaching in key stage two for 5 years. How do you organise your Literacy activities? Do all your chn take part in an adult led Literacy activity each day or do you have different groups of children completing adult led activities on different days so by the end of the week each child has had an adult led activity? I'm just unsure of the best way to orgainse literacy sessions. Can anyone recommend any websites that have literacy planning for Reception as I am completely new after being in key stage 2 for so long. I am really looking forward to teaching Rec…

Gibbering Idiot!
by Guest- 16 replies

I've done my first parents meeting, for the parents of new intake into F2 in September, this evening. We had lots of parents about 40 turn up plus the Head, TA's and other support people to give their little bit. I made lots of notes but end up sounding and looking like a gibbering idiot. I just cannot speak in front of groups of other adults and i ALWAYS go BRIGHT RED and blotchy. Silly thing is I already know most of the parents because I'm in Nursery with them. I can do anything with the children and I'm fine on a one to one basis with the parents but put me in front of a group and I look and sound SO stupid! My head teacher says I write brilliant letters and have deve…

Hi there, I came across Relax Kids http://www.relaxkids.com/home/ and am thinking about using it in my class. I wondered if anyone had used it in a KS1 or Reception class and what they think of it as I am thinking of buying some of the resources to try out with my new class but as it is a very boy heavy class am wondering if it would work as well. Love to hear from anyone who is/or has thought of using it. L

Help please, I'm an NQT who's just finished my second term in a Reception/Year 1 class and I am really struggling. It's a small school so I'm the only Foundation stage teacher and I have the summer born Year 1s which make it even more difficult as I have to cover the same work as the Year1/2 class. I'm struggling with how to manage the classroom and manage to control the reception activities and teach Year 1s. Does anyone have any successful ideas. Also I have to fit my topics around Year1/2 so does anyone have any ideas to fit with History - Famous People or Science Light and sound, any ideas very welcome - I was thinking of doing Celebrations but will this stretch teh…

Hand Writing Skills

Hi everyone, I have a 5 year old in my reception class who has great difficulty controling a pencil when trying to write. He has quite q few other learning difficulties added to this so I think it is all to do with developmental delay. He still holds a pencil in a palmer grip and when he does hold it 'correctly' he appears to have no strength in his hand and so doesn't apply any pressure. I have suggested to parents that he does lots of play dough, cooking, threading etc but they insist he is strong as he has no trouble with his transformer toys. Not sure what I could suggest to them or what I can do. Has anyone ever come across this before?
