A couple of months ago I got a catalogue from a company selling gorgeous small world resources. They were wooden and very expensive (£100's!). I didn't think I'd ever get to buy any thing from there so I think I chucked the catalogue. Now I have been given some money from the PTA and want to invest it in some small world resources. Any ideas of the company's name? I think it might have had 'solution' in the title or I could be getting it muddled with another company! Thanks.

Collecting Child From School

I'm in the middle of updating and ammending policies and procedures etc and was wondering what I should be doing regarding the procedure for collecting a child from school. At present we ask parents to let us know in advance if someone else is picking their child up. This is done either verbally in the morning or by a phone call to school. This is fine, but there have been one or two times when another parent says, 'Oh .....'s mum has called and asked me to pick him up as she's running late' etc, or something similar. In this instance, we have not had notification from the parent. I thought it would be better to have a password system in place, which would help with th…

Hi, I am a reception teacher with a class of 21 children. We are going to be looking at water this term and I thought it would be a nice idea to do our assembly on rain as there are lots of songs linked to this. However I was wondering whether anyone knew of any songs to describe the water cycle or a fun way I could describe it for an assembly? Your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated Thanks

Hi everyone I am desperate - could any practitioners fill out a questionnaire as regards to Superhero play in their setting - Thinking about if its allowed or not allowed etc.,? - I would happily email to everyone who is willing. Or if their is an easier way on here then happy to hear about that too. Nearly finished my BA - but need more practitioner input in order to analyse arguements for and against. No names will be mentioned - you just need to put your Sex down (happy to also hear from as many male practitioners as poss as this will be a plus). Once I have analysed the information the copy will be destroyed! Please and pretty please!!!! Tha…

Hi everyone, I am just about to offer a free flow between indoors and outdoors as my TA has been off ill since beofre Easter and is just about to come back -so have been short staffed!!! No matter where I work, I am always stuck with an ill TA!!! Anyway, am I right in thinking that free flow works by anytime that a child is not completing a focus job with an adult they can choose to do anything they want in or out of the classroom? and if so, is it just the equipment outide that would be used in PDR? Look forward to hearing how you all do it. Just so you know, we have 45 year R children, 2 teachers, 2 TA's and a faily small contained outside area. …

Our children are really loving the Bear Hunt Story and we would like to continue it outdoors. At the moment I have thought of putting a toy dog in a bag with some swishy sticks ( to represent the grass ) Do any of you lovely people have any more suggestions. We have a hill and a bridge and tyres - how can I include them? Thanks Sunshine

I was just wondering what your views are on High Scope? Have any of you used it? Do you think it was effective? And how did you get the child you planned for towards your 'special' activity? Also, is High Scope basically Continuous Provision? I work in a day nursery at the moment (On monday a CC and the Day Nursery!) and I observe my key children and then 'plan' activities for them. However, the children have to want to go to the activity as they are choosing. At the moment I am trying to get a particular child into the Messy Area to mix paints and see what happens - however, he hates the messy room. Do you think I should take it to the little people area/…
