Oblong Or Rectangle?
by Guest- 19 replies

Is there a maths wizz out there who can give me the latest on this old chestnut, please? Last time I asked a numeracy consultant, I was told that we were supposed to explain that a rectangle was a shape with 4 right angles and therefore could be either an oblong or a square. Is that still right, or is oblong met with sharp intakes of breath as it once was? Thanks, Tracylu

How To Plan Weekly For Topics?
by Guest- 3 replies

For anyone who still uses topics to help plan - Could you help me?? Once you have decided on your topic and maybe written ideas under the 6 areas of learning.... How do you transfer those ideas on to weekly plans? Do you just do one focus activity a week or one a day? Or can you just tell me the process you follow? Thanks in advance xx

Hi all, After half term my children want to learn about animals that live in the forest, trees and birds. This leads on nicely from our last topic of fairies, where we watched a fairy episode of 'The Magic Faraway Tree' which is where their topic ideas stemmed from for the new topic. This also ties in nicely with our trip which is to a national forest. Any ideas how to organise the topic and ideas? I almost feel that it is so vast that I don't know how to scale it down into managebale weekly chunks. Only thing that I really want to do is decorating trees, tree ring patterns, tree rubbing collages. Thanks

Hi, I have 62 nursery reports to write and my head doesn't mind the format. Has anyone got anything which is easy to complete, eg, tick box or something which is not time consuming. Thanks for your continued help. Sue x

Class Assembly
by Guest- 2 replies

We are having a whole school sports week after half term - and it's our turn to do a class assembly. We're a Catholic school so we do have to have some reference to God/Jesus. Initial thoughts were to do something based on using our talents, but I'm not sure. Any ideas for songs, hymns ... anything really ... would be gratefully received.

Hi there, Just wondered if anyone knows where we can purchase a Pirate Ship for our outdoor area. Ideally would like a multicoloured one. If not do you know of any other great outdoor play equipment companies? Thanks

Hi, Has anyone got any good ideas of quick little rhymes/action rhymes to do with the children in between sessions as fillers. I have done 'can you do what I do?' and clapping patterns to death and in need of some other ideas to grab the childrens attention. I am in FS1 but also work a lot with FS2. Many thanks Lorraine
