Eyfs Coordinator Interview - Help
by Guest- 4 replies
- 4.2k views
I've got an interview for an EYFS Coordinator position next week. I have a lot of experience in Foundation 2 (6 years and also a EYFS moderator and Leading Teacher) but very little hands on experience in Foundation 1. I'm not quite sure of the set up in the school as only shortlisted candidates are invited to look round formally, so not sure if it's a unit or 2 Reception classrooms next to a 26 place nursery. I obviously know the theories of child-initiaited and adult-led, continuous provision etc and how it works in Foundation 2 but is there anything else I need to know about Foundation 1/Nursery, or can anyone suggest any questions I might get. Any help appreciated

Hi all i'm really hoping someone can help. Next week our lit focus is writing invitations to a teddy bears picnic which we are holding the following week. I being observed for each literacy input mon-thurs and have 4 to do. The trouble is i want to make my inputs engaging and ecxiting - not just shared writing an invite each day. My class are mixed ability although they all recognise sounds can blend and segment words and all will make very plausidble attempts at phonetically spelling words. They all write and most are forming letters correctly. Like i say i am looking for inspiring ideas for the inputs Any help would be gratefully received ready for my observ…

Sen In Foundation
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi everyone, Need some advice as my head is totally swimming! I have a child in my class who has SEN (mainly in the areas of play and social development, communication language and literacy and physical development) and I am trying to organise their learning at the moment. Outside agencies have helped to devise an IEP but I am struggling to know how to organise the rest of the childs learning time.... Do I track back to suitable objectives/developmental matters using the EYFS for when we do adult led activities/direct teaching? or do I use the assessment sheet given by the outside agency to plan for objectives and activities rather than the EYFS as this is specific …

Basic Skills
by Guest heleng- 4 replies

On a Friday afternoon we run a session called Friday fun where we mix Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 into mixed groups and they rotate around the three classes (over the course of three weeks). These sessions are as practical as possible and have a basic skills focus. So far we have covered scissor skills, folding skills inc folding and tearing and concertina folds and using a ruler to draw lines, measure and fold/ score. My mind had gone blank and I can't think of any other skills that could be taught to Reception/ Year 1 and Year 2. Any ideas?

The Perfect Outside Area
by Guest- 6 replies
Hello, This is my first posting to the Forum. I have a question? What would you include if you could design the perfect outside area? What would be on you must have list? Do you have something now which you wouldn't be without? The reason I am asking is that I have been asked to design the outside area at school for the the reception class. There are physical restraints which mean that the children can not have free access to the outside. Therefore I would like to make the outside area as perfect as possible for when they do go out. Any ideas? Thank you. Rhubarbannie

Get Real?
by Guest- 9 replies
- 2.2k views
Morning Has anyone been told to 'get real'? We had an 'advisor' in last saturday and I got my feedback yesterday. Apparently we are too plastic. We have got to get real especially in our outdoor area. I think we have got quite a nice outdoor area - large covered area that is 'zoned', a playhouse, football goal, bikes, large construction out on the grass when fine. But Ive been told that this is not enough. I've got to have a garden/digging area with real trowels and spades, a construction area with real hammer and nails and a role play with real plates and knifes and forks. So what I'm basically asking is - has anyone got some good ideas. We are a two form…

Hi all This is my first post! Hello Everyone! I am an NQT in Reception and have had very limited experience in FS previously. I had an observation and was told that my approach was too much like year 1. Large carpet time and then an adult focus activiity after main input. I am not sure where to go from there! How does everyone manage Child Initiated and Adult Focus time. How many adult focus activiites do you have each week. How much child initiated time - is this when children access continous provision? I am so confused and have spent so long not really knowing what I am doing I am beginning to feel whether I should just pack it all in!! Please help I a…

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but I've been using the website for a few weeks for lesson ideas (its been a great help). I'm here to ask for some help? I'm currently coming to the end of my Early Years PGCE for which I have completed my KS1 placement in Y1, and I'm now just a few weeks into my FS placement in FS2. I've got an interview at my dream school next week. I've got to plan and teach a 20min literacy lesson to 18 FS2s - numeracy being my strong point. The only guidence I have is that they are all working on phase 3 of Letters and Sounds. The school is high achieving and so I am keen that my lesson has some challenge / the children do learn from it. I favour…
