I have a child in my reception class who is still not recognising any numerals. I have been told to write an IEP to support him but I am an NQT and I am not sure what to do to support him in the best way. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks

Hello Everyone, I'm a 3rd year early years ITT student, tackling my dissertation topic of ethnic diversity and inclusion in the early years. I would really value your opinions on these issues and I have a questionnaire with about 19 questions ( only a few that require more than a yes or no answer) that I would be grateful if you could complete for me. If you can think of anything the questionnaires fails to address please let me know. Thank you. P.s, even though I've been a secret lurker on the forum for a few years, this is my first post, so If I do this wrong, please forgive me. Sarnie Amended again to edit a line near the end of the quest…

Hope everyone is enjoying their bank holiday weekend! I want to get myself organised for next week now so I can enjoy the rest of the weekend but my brain is not willing! my class are very into all things mini beast at the mo and I am going to introduce them to an african land snail next week (he is going to be our new class pet!!) I thought we would do a week of snaily things - finding out how to care for him etc, they love collage stuff so thought we would do Matisse snail picture, and also read "whale and the snail". That is all I can think of at the mo - any ideas of how to develop this a bit? Any ideas gratefully recieved! Thanks Ems

September New Intake.
by Guest- 21 replies

We are looking ahead to our September intake and discussing various options for a possible staggered 'timed' intake for the children. Do others stagger the times for their new intake? We were thinking along the lines of; first week the children spend the morning and leave before lunch; second week, as before but enjoy lunch together and leave at 1pm. Third week, in full time. We would be very interested to have some feedback from other schools as to what has worked (or not as the case may be!) for you and ultimately the new children. Many thanks for your help, Kind regards, Sara Burnham. TA Orleton School.

This is my first post so apologies if it is not in the right place! Hi, I am hoping somone could advise me, I qualify as a NQT this year and have made it through to interview stage, but first I have to teach a class I have never met who are working at various levels. I am to teach story sequencing using story language. This is a very creative school so I want the lesson to be hands on but am frightened of being too adventurous!! I would be really grateful for any help!!!

Home / School Packs

Hi Does anyone know where I can find the 'homework packs' that were for sale at the education show. I'm sure I've seen them on the Literacy trust site and elsewhere. They are games that come in a clear wallet. Each week the children take a different pack home- a bit like a toy library. I can't find them anywhere....makes me think that I have been dreaming AGAIN!

Any ideas for something a bit different for my reception trip. Trying to avoid the farm, zoo sort of thing and went to a local museum earlier in the year. Fancying a change but nothing is coming to me!! We are in Derbyshire and happy to travel an hour or so.
